I was just looking at these pics I took of the Greek Cusina Octopus rocking the Santa Cap, when I remembered it is Scanfair time. you probably missed the ealr festivities today, but you can dance Scandinavian style tonight! From the Scandinavian Heritage Website:

Scandinavians love to celebrate Christmas. It brings joy to the short and dark days of a Scandinavian winter. Those traditions run deep in the hearts and lives of the people of Scandinavian heritage and come alive every year in Portland at ScanFair.


$6 adults, $5 seniors and students, $3 children 6 to 12 years, 5 and under are free

Dancers and musicians from Oregon & Washington on two stages.

Annual pickled herring eating contest, noon Saturday.

Delicious Scandinavian foods.

Handcrafted and imported items.

Film room with videos on Scandinavia.

How-to demonstrations of rosemaling, spinning, carving and more.

A children’s craft room.

Beautiful Scandinavian folk costumes.

52nd crowning of Oregon’s Lucia Queen of Light.

Sponsored by the Scandinavian Heritage Foundation which was founded to preserve Scandinavian languages at PSU. ScanFair is a benefit underwriting two fully accredited Scandinavian language courses per year. All donations to ScanFair are tax deductible.
