PDX PIPELINE isn’t in the politics game. Yet, we are also not in the eliminating-people’s-rights-based-on-foolish-bigotry game either (We are in the multi-dash game). So, I wanted to point out the stupidity and disgrace that was this ruling and a protest taking place tomorrow. Also, wanted to show you some rather nice cupcakes…Mmmmm…cupcakes.
Below is an entry taken from LeLo in NoPo’s blog. It is a great Portland blog (with protest-baking tips!), and you can read the rest of this and other posts by clicking here. Also, more information on the protests around Oregon here at Basic Rights Oregon.

It’s just another kick in the stomach. Again.
Join with us and a community that supports you, at a candlelight vigil, Wednesday, January 2nd, at Q Center with Basic Rights Oregon. 5:30-7pm.

That sound? I hear it every day. Every week. All the time. It’s the sound of inequalities of gay and lesbian couples in Oregon who are denied the benefits of marriage that our friends, family and other members of the Oregon community enjoy.
Enjoy? They’re actually benefits that really matter mainly in times of life or death. The stories I’ve heard..of the partner of a war veteran denied being handed the flag at his partner’s funeral. Of an emergency room scenario where a partner is denied access to be at the bedside of their loved one. Of a partner whose name was crossed through on their child’s birth certificate because she was not “wed” to the birth mother. The list goes on and on of the stories I’ve heard. They’re horrible, and tragic, and they hurt.
And today? There’s the sound again…READ MORE

There is no one denied equal rights in Oregon. Anyone may marry any other person, that will have them, as long as they are of different sex. You may not marry your sibling, your parent, your German shepard, a three year old, or a dead body. The good people of Oregon, and every state where they have had the opportunity to vote, have decided that same sex marriage is unacceptable. The efforts of the legislature to end run this decision are despicable, and not in keeping with the laws allowing direct vote. We are not Massachusetts or Vermont, where the unelected courts decide our marriage laws.

You know…I am not one to get in debates with people who write crap like you just did…but I will.
It is amazing that you would go straight from gay marriage to “marry your sibling, your parent, your German shepard, a three year old, or a dead body”. Are you kidding? This shows exactly where you are coming from.
I don’t care if the people of the state voted it down. It is still intolerant and stupid. There are so many ridiculous “straight” marriages out there and they are all fine apparently.
If the people of the state voted for segregation, slavery, religious intolerance (as states have done), I hope the courts would strike that crap down. Run-around it, they should.
But, for you, who seems to equate two loving people getting married who are of the same sex with incest, pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia–I’m sure you’d rather have intolerance.

Editorial: Domestic Partnership
On Friday, Oregon Federal District Court Judge Michael Mosman will hold a hearing about Oregon’s Domestic Partnership law.
The currently-suspended law would provide domestic partners with similar legal protection as married couples.
Nine other states…
