Sign-up starts at 5PM and the bar gets packed, so head down there with time to observe or participate. Joel (co-owner, referee in pic) also told me that about twenty women competed last time.

Feb 27: Debate Club | Domestic Partnerships in Oregon—Is marriage next? Should it be?

I got a message from Aniie at the Bus Project that Debate Club it tomorrow. Since this is a hot-topic (and has been for a long time now), I'm sure this will be very well attended.

Now that the Oregon Family Fairness Act has created domestic partnerships for same-sex couples, what's next for Oregon? What does marriage equity look like and how should the government be involved?

Come join in the discussion and hear what people are saying about domestic partnerships and marriage in Oregon….more info here

Feb 25: Virginia Cafe's Last Day | Historical Society & Barstool Crawl to New Location

**Update: OregonLive has a video of Virginia Cafe's Barstool Crawl. Click here to view it.

The time has come. I was there on Thursday to view the VC one last time at its historic location. As I walked up to take in the sight, workers were moving many of the final pieces out of the current/old location.

Monday brings the final day that you too can enjoy this piece of Portland history. Message from Leah, General Manager of the Virginia Cafe:

Virginia Cafe, Portland, Oregon

The time has finally come to say adieu to Park Avenue on Monday, February 25th around 4pm. We will be moving up to 10th avenue via a bar stool crawl up Yamhill then left on 10th to our new home at 820 SW 10th avenue. We have had an amazing 86 years on Park Avenue, and we are sad to say good-bye, but this old lady is only just getting started for the next 86 years.

We would love to see all of you help us christen the New Virginia Cafe, so come on down to Park Avenue on Monday and be part of our future.

Oh by the way, Marsha Matthews of the Oregon Historical Society was instrumental in us being a part of Portland's past revisited. The Oregon Historical Society is coming in this Tuesday to take one of our remaining booths and VC glass to be put on display at the Historical Society. It is a very proud day indeed.

Until Monday:
