July 25: Hollywood Theatre | Grindhouse Film | Shaolin vs Wu Tang

“Wu Tang will survive.” Someone should ask this man how he found this.

From Dan of Grindhouse:

On Saturday July 26th only at 7:45 at the Hollywood Theatre, The Grindhouse Film Festival presents an incredibly rare 35mm screening of SHAOLIN VS. WU TANG!

SHAOLIN VS. WU TANG (1981) It's Shaolin shadow boxing vs. Wu Tang sword style in this kung fu classic!  An evil lord murders a Wu Tang master in an attempt to turn the Shaolin and Wu Tang against each other.  The two schools each begin training to prepare for a showdown while the villainous lord attempts to combine the two styles to become the supreme kung fu master.  This is old school kung fu at its best, filled with excellent fight scenes, strange training sequences, martial arts weaponry, and an opening credit sequence that alone is worth the price of admission.  Starring and directed by Shaw Brothers superstar Gordon Liu (36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN) with fight choreography by the great Lau Kar Leung.

I recently discovered this 35mm print buried in an old film vault, long forgotten.  The print is in perfect condition and had never been run through a projector.  Until now, this movie has only survived on poor quality butchered bootleg video.  Don't miss this!

PLUS: 35mm Kung Fu trailers!  We'll also be giving away a vinyl copy of the Wu Tang Clan's initial album "Enter the Wu Tang (36 Chambers)" which heavily samples this movie, courtesy of Jackpot Records.  For more information and advance tickets: www.grindhousefilmfest.com  The Grindhouse Film Festival is an independent production, not associated with the Hollywood Theatre.
