Tonight is the Holocone beat sampling contest/show known lovingly as the “Beat-Off Battle”. This begins a six month journey to win $600 for one of the beat producers.

The show is shaping up to be a great competition and it looks like we will have 12 or more producers all ready to throw down for the night.
I am excited about this battle because it is the first one in a series that we will be doing every two months for a year. The winning producer in the battle wins 70 dollars for the night and is entered into a grand round that will be happening next September where the winners from all the previous battles will compete for a cash prize of 600 dollars.
I am really excited about this battle and I have begun getting the samples together, the sample theme is jazz samples.The beat battle is a one hundred percent sample based battle and the producers only use the sounds provided. They all get one hour to chop, sequence and compose a beat that is under three minutes long. The different styles and different approaches are cool to witness as each beat maker crafts something totally unique.
The winner is determined by audience vote .
