Photo By The Impression That I Get

I met up with the crew behind UrbanDrinks at the Nines on Friday, the day after the opening and had a rather tasty Old Fashion. I took some pictures of Nines door (blue ribbon) and around the Urban Farmer area. Mine are not nearly as nice as the ones by “The Impression That I Get”. That's called Nikon (here) vs iPhone (mine).

I took this picture of the happy hour menu. Mixed nuts and moonshine punch Read the rest of this entry »

From the Zombie Walk Organizers…
zombie walk portlandMy dear flesh eaters:

The Portland zombie walk 2008 will take place on Sunday,October 26th. We will meet as usual in Pioneer Courthouse Square at 4pm exactly.

Please don't arrive too early, I know this seems silly but it takes away something from the shock value of tons of zombies arriving at once. If we can get it figured out at 4pm we'll start collecting signatures for the World Zombie Day record. Please sign the forms, nothing but your name and City, State are required. The route will be posted (also pics and video here) day before or day of walk.

What: A group of people getting together dressed as Zombies roaming Portland in a predetermined route. A sort of flash mob of zombies if you will.

Why: Allows Zombie aficionados to get together and collectively put a strange twist on some other wise ordinary folks day. Imagine shopping downtown or just popping out of the office for a coffee and having to make your way through a crowd of zombies. Meet HOT Zombie guys and gals!

Portland AIGA Event: Designspeaks with Byron Ferris | October 23

AIGA kicks off Designspeaks this week with Byron Ferris. If you are into graphic design, I was told that

“Every graphic designer in Portland owes it to him/herself to check this out.”

From Erik Ratcliffe:
AIGA Portland, Design Speaks

Info about Designspeaks:
AIGA Portland is pleased to introduce Designspeaks, a new series developed to showcase the most intriguing designers in the Pacific Northwest. Some of our guest speakers in this quarterly series will be stars and some will have managed to maintain a lower profile, but we can assure you; all will be amazing. We're gearing this series as an intimate venue for the creative community to connect to others, to see what they are doing and how they're doing it. There is no specific format for Designspeaks.

Basically, it's a small talks gathering intended to inform, inspire and engage. See some work. Ask questions. Laugh. Cry. Whatever. But do join us, won't you?

Info about Byron:
Lest we not forget. For nearly six decades, Byron Ferris has been the voice of design thinking and practice in this city and throughout the region. Read the rest of this entry »
