I met Chris at the Goodfoot First Thursday Art Opening last week (great art still up). I commented on his clothing because he had the heart on the t-shirt and the hoodie. He also has a new design on the crest area of the hoodie which is a “OR” symbol with the heart in the O. Anyway, turns out he invented the ubiquitous “Heart in Oregon” stickers you see all over Portland.

A Christmas Carol: Making Portland Feel Warm & Fuzzy Again

When Julian invited me to join him at A Christmas Carol last Friday night, I was immediately drawn to the thought of my favorite film version of this story (of which there are nearly 50)  — “A Muppet Christmas Carol”.  Of course, I thought of Miss Piggy's groundbreaking performance and got extremely excited about seeing it live at Portland Center Stage.

I haven't been to a live show in over a year and had not visited Portland Center Stage in quite a while. With this being one of my favorite stories of all time, I was really excited to see what PCS had to offer – I was not disappointed.

Jardin Portland: Our Mexican Sister City

Welcome to Guadalajara, the city of Roses and the famous Multnomah Falls. Wait, what? Yes it's true it's true. A surprise to many of us Portlanders, Guadalajara is one of Portland's sister cities. In 2006 the government of Guadalajara, Mexico awarded the people of Portland (via the PGSCA) with approximately one acre of parkland in Bosque Colomos, Guadalajara's largest central-city park. Two rose gardens line the entrance of the park and a replica of Multnomah Falls and its famous footbridge are planned for installation. Beyond the many natural beauties that Portland will now share, the park will use sustainable practices for its construction, another one of Portland's finer traits.
