Me too…I have a friend that I want to be with on New Years eve but I’m 21 and he’s 20….what to do? Post back here if you find out that he could attend (not likely)

Hey guys, so the Crystal is open bar so sadly you do have to be 21 or have a pretty good fake lol. But if you are able to make it, it will be amazing. I actuality went and saw the entire layout just this afternoon and is going to be insane! especially the VIP lounges. Private bar and music, its going to be a lot of fun!

how much to get in, and what time?

1/01/09: So I went to this New Years Nation Event in Portland, Oregon last night (12/31/08) & for the $105 that I spent, I was sorely DISAPPOINTED. I won’t blame the New Year’s Nation people “entirely”, but they should have “selected” a BETTER VENUE in Portland! I love the Crystal Ballroom for a $30 concert or for 80′s night for dancing (love-love-love) but not for an EVENT this big to ring in the New Year. Too much for this venue. And those of us who bought the General Admission Tixs were at the mercy of being stuck in the Ballroom ONLY for dancing and the lobby outside with the restrooms (thanks chicks for those who smoked in the bathroom while we had to stand in line!) and coat check. Then of course — the bars were all LONG A$$ LINES that took 20+ minutes to get a drink. Seriously. Then only ONE FOOD station (4-5 tables in an L-shape) in the ENTIRE ballroom floor with the FOOD to feed (400+ of us? Seriously). And yeah — picked over and not restocked in timely manner. Picked. Picked. Picked. And bare. Did they have left overs cause it wasn’t OUT for us to eat. Pathetic. The garbage cans were overflowed. The few tables we had to STAND at were NOT being cleaned off. Ick. Janitorial? The wooden floor was slippery with spilled drinks and cups & did I mention 20 minutes in line for a drink? And the AUDIO VISIUAL for the connecting various other locations — PATHETIC!! Not even worth it. Waste of electricity. Bad reception. So disappointed and will not be going back to this venue for my New Years. I’m glad I went though, to remind me NOT to stray for my next New Year’s. Besides, I’ve a been a regular to the Champagne Ball that’s held at the Portland Hilton & even though they don’t offer an open bar — they have 32,000 sq feet to move in this HOTEL. 5 Rooms of dancing and music (80s, hip-hop, country, etc) so you’re not stuck listening to ONE band or DJ at a time. They also have exceptional food in all 5 rooms that are restocked and pizza at ALL stations after mid-nite. Places to SIT and eat even if you just buy Gen Adm & free coffee/tea to sober up. And wonderful desserts (incl. chocolate covered strawberries, cheescake, etc.) to eat. And bar stations EVERYWHERE and this year (12/31/09) — I won’t mind paying for my own $6 Jack & Coke & hanging with peeps who actually dress up vs. the jeans people we’re in for that $105+ (VIP paid more)! Call me a SNOB but I had higer expectations for the Crystal Ballroom on New Year’s Eve! Not what I got. But on an end note — DJ SugarChile did a good job! The coat check gal was the sweetest and once you made to the bartender to order a drink — they did a good job with being quick and efficient. It wasn’t their fault everyone was ORDERING but yeah — my advice to the New Year’s Nation EVENT PLANNER’s — find a better Venue in Portland and plan for more than ONE food station in the main ballroom! And better food.
