Drinking and Drawing at Someday Lounge | January 14

This looks like a promising Wednesday Night. You “tweeps”can also follow Drinking and Drawing on Twitter: DrinknDrawPDX.

From SIGGRAPH:
Someday Lounge, Portland, OregonDrinking and Drawing: An Evening of Collaborative Animation

Drinking and Drawing is a super-fun animated jam session where animators and animation fans get together and do a little drinking, do a little drawing. Those who join in the drawing fun participate in the creation of an animated film in just one night!

How Does It Work?

Each animator receives a set of 8 blank cards in addition to the last card from the previous animator. This last card is the first frame for the next set of cards. Animators continue the animation. When they finish drawing, the animator vacates their seat, no dilly-dallying, and a new animator with blank cards is called to the table.

Repeat all evening and have some Fun! It ends up being a musical chairs way of producing a short animated film created by lots of different animators!

(We) collect all the cards by the end of the evening and scan them into the computer. A few days later you'll be able to check out the film online at cascadesiggraph.org

Admission is free to Cascade SIGGRAPH and ASIFA Portland members, general public admission is $5 at the door.

Annual Cascade SIGGRAPH chapter membership may be purchased at the door:

I’d like to come to this if I can, but I work a late shift at my day job so I gotta ask — will I be able to participate if I show up around 7pm?

    P.S. I organize a more comics-oriented weekly drink&draw at various bars around Portland — http://www.drinkdraw.com if anyone’s interested.

    Hi Pete!

(I’ve actually looked at your site before, and it’s a really cool idea!)

To answer your question, yes, the drawing will be happening for several hours, so people who come later will still be able to participate. And some people will want to check it out before they commit to drawing- they will be able to do that as well.

    Hope to see you there!
    Rebekah
