There are going to be almost four days of Lindy Hop, Swing, and other vintage dancing going on this weekend at the Portland Lindy Exchange. What is a Lindy Exchange you ask? Well it's an event where a city plans a whole bunch of non-stop dancing and live music for a weekend, and people from near and far to get very little sleep, make some new friends, and dance, dance, dance! The “exchange” part is where local dancers open up their couches and floors to those that are visiting for the very little sleep that many dancers are going to get.

The first dance started Thursday at 8:30pm at the PPAA. That's the Portland Policeman's Athletic Association. Bet you have seen the neon sign behind Maiden In The Mist plenty of times but didn't know that Portland's finest have their very own ballroom from days of old. Well.. tonight's dance and show is sporting the live music of Portland's very own Bridgetown Sextets.

Beginning dancers are always welcome, but even if you have a bumb leg you can still come out and listen to some of the best vintage jazz and swing bands that we have in the Northwest.

Bands playing this weekend:

Friday at Tiffany Center:
- Midnight Serenaders (my favorite 20's-style band!)
- Reece Marshburn Sextet Feat. Jim Beatty

Saturday at Tiffany Center:
- Pete Petersen Septet Feat. Bria Skonberg
- 6 Foot Swing

Sunday afternoon at Lola's Room:
- Trashcan Joe
- Swing Papillon

Sunday at the Crystal Ballroom:
- The Stolen Sweets
- Pete Krebs and his Portland Playboys
