2009 Portland Farmers Market: Video, Pictures & Updates
March 27, 2009 — PDXPIPELINEPosted By Julian Chadwick
Update: 2010 Portland Farmers Market Opens This Weekend + Pictures, Video & Expansion
In addition to enjoying all of these events in Portland this
weekend, you should really go the South Park blocks tomorrow for the Second Portland Farmers Market of 2009.
I was all over the Farmers Market last Saturday taking video, pictures, eating spicy brat sandwiches. For some reason, they have no mention of me or the Pipeline in the Facebook message they just sent out.
They just put “Mayor Sam Adams was one of the 9,000 people attending”.
Ummm…hello, rewrite:
Mayor Sam Adams & Julian Chadwick & Christine Taylor & Tom Erickson of Dear Ether were FOUR of the 9,000 people attending.
Much better.
Message from Farmers Market, Pictures & Video after the jump…
I shot a live video stream from the Portland Farmers Market last Saturday. It's an unedited, sort-of virtual walk through of the market (not great quality b/c it was a live iPhone stream).
From Farmers Market:
Omegas, Man
Kale – good and good for you – will be available at Saturday Farmers Market. And if somehow, some way, the thought of vitamin and Omega rich kale isn't enough to get you moving on the weekend morning, you can also get your Omega 3s more traditionally from seafood vendors Linda Brand Crab, Stonewall Banks, and “Salmon Man” Sampson.
The early bird gets the biscuit. Pine State Biscuits (http://www.pinestatebiscuits.com) is returning to where it all began: They will be baking for market revelers beginning this week.
Peter Piper may have picked a peck*, but Picklopolis Pickles puts them in pints (and other sizes) for Portlanders.
Musically – Adrian Martin will be performing from 9-10, while Southern Skies gets the stage between 11-2.
If any of your virtual (or real) friends who love locally grown food, please let them know about the Portland Farmers Market Facebook group. We can even tweet interested parties if you follow us at twitter/portlandfarmers. Or you can check us out the old fashioned way, on the web at www.portlandfarmersmarket.org
Smoke from the grilled free range pork filled the air with the scent of summer bbq.
One can even participate in a wine tasting at The Portland Market.
Fresh salmon was a popular item. This is the last of the wild salmon fillets.
Fresh eggs are always a favorite for any foodie.
