Did you see Mos Def on Real Time with Bill Maher a couple weeks back? WOW. Did you see the “Overtime” segment where he went crazy paranoid?! I tried to find links but HBO has shut it down and is trying to act like it never happened. That guy must have some really, really good weed.
Mos Def tickets are on presale until midnight Thursday (April 8 ). In order to get them, you need to go to this ticketswest link with code JAM. We are also giving two pairs of tickets away to this show. How to win them? Simply comment on the post below and we will draw names of the winners on Friday around 1PM 8ish. We will add a comment to the link of the video drawing. If you enter and are on Twitter, follow us (@pdxpipeline)Â and mention your twitter username in the comment and we will give you two entries.

Initially regarded as one of the most promising rappers to emerge in the late '90s, Mos Def turned to acting in subsequent years as music became a secondary concern for him. He did release new music from time to time, including albums such as The New Danger (2004), but his output was erratic and seemingly governed by whim.
Mos Def nonetheless continued to draw attention, especially from critics and underground rap fans, and his classic breakthrough albums — Black Star (1998), a collaboration with Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek; and Black on Both Sides (1999), his solo debut — continued to be revered, all the more so as time marched forward. Mos Def often used his renown for political purposes, protesting in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and the Jena Six incident in 2007, for instance.

I saw Mos Def act in an off-broadway play in Manhattan. (The play was called “Topdog/ Underdog”, and the day after I saw it the playwright won a Pulitzer Prize.) That is from like a year ago. He was good there and typical Mos Def. Notice how HBO has not tried to pull this clip even though it has been up forever. Yet, all of last week’s are gone with a message saying HBO made them pull it.
Last week (2 weeks ago), Mos Def was drunk/stoned/psychotic…I don;t know, but he wasn’t the articulate and confident guy that I had seen before.
