NBA Playoffs Commercial Featuring Portland Trail Blazers

The NBA has been playing many of these new “Where will amazing happen this year” themed commercials. In the US/Portland, I've only seen ones featuring Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Pierce–the people that Commissioner David Stern has allowed (ordered?) the refs to create special rules for (go to the rim with reckless abandon b/c you get the shot or foul call 85% of the time*).

Well, sometimes it just makes you wish you lived in Spain, where the rain falls mostly in the plains and not the (Willamette) valley, and could see NBA commercials of the Spanish Armada going for the reverse alley-oop. BOOM! RIP CITY UPRISE!

For the 10% of you out there that could care less about basketball–we're sorry, we've got the playoff fever. (Also, this is a fake commercial–still great)

*Actually, I don't know that Pierce gets this status with the refs like the others.

HAHA you actually think Lebron doesnt get fouled. Dude he is huge and gets fouled multiple times every time he gets the ball. I live in Portland and am a huge Blazer fan but seriously Lebron and all the other stars mention earn every trip to the line.

    No,

I definitely think they get fouled a lot. I agree with just about everyone though that there are breaks for stars with fouling. I do not think there is a conspiracy b/w Stern and the refs. I was just doing that for Bill Simmons b/c I read this over the weekend: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/090401

    Here is what he said:

Flash-forward to 2009: With the post-Donaghy hangover gone, we’re back to that star system again. Kobe, LeBron and Wade are officiated differently than everyone else. And you know what else? They know it. Watch LeBron at the end of games now — he barrels toward the basket, bounces off guys and knows he’ll get a call. Here’s the shame of it: LeBron, Wade and Kobe are playing at the highest level of any three stars since Jordan, Barkley and Hakeem in 1993. They would be great with or without the help. I don’t blame them — they play hard every night and do whatever it takes to win. But if you don’t think we’re headed for a Kobe-LeBron Finals, you’re insane. As your gambling accountant, I suggest you investigate those 6-to-5 odds on a Cavs-Lakers Finals. And no, this isn’t a reverse jinx. Just watch what happens.

    Don’t forget the B-Roy version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czUWeG68hGM

These fake commercials are so much better than the real ones. (Also, the horror–the NBA is still playing the Baron Davis one, who isn’t anywhere near the playoffs.)

  4.   Corey Thompson Says:

Even if these commercials are fake they’re still rad.

  5.   Matt Says:

Does anyone know what the name of that song is that’s in the video?

  6.   Nic Says:

I don’t the name of the piano song playing in the background- but I wish I did. It is absolutely beautiful. Does any here know who it is?

  7.   Nic Says:

    found it.

  8.   Mike Says:

The Song is not Carly Commando, it is “Fly” by Ludovico Einaudi. Carly Commando’s song “Everyday” was used last year

  9.   Mike Says:

    Sorry Nic,
The Song is not Carly Commando, it is “Fly” by Ludovico Einaudi. Carly Commando’s song “Everyday” was used last year.
