The Mississippi Street Fair is next weekend and is always one of the top street fairs in Portland. Last year it was a million degrees and I stayed in, so these pictures and video are from 2007. Also, it looks like it will only be in the 80s on Saturday, so that is perfect (as of now, don’t hate if it goes for the 100s).

From Press Release:
Mississippi Street Fair Announces Final Call for Artists, Vendors and More!
PORTLAND, OR. The eighth annual Mississippi Avenue Street fair still has spots available for vendors at this year’s fair. The event which is taking place July 11th is Portland’s most unique and diverse street fair. This is a great opportunity for people to showcase their business or organization as well as support the local community. The fair has an estimated 20,000 people attending this year and offers something for everyone- food, music, art, shopping, and more people than attend any other street fair in the city.
“We had so many new vendors, and such a high attendee count last year, we didn’t think we could top it- however, in terms of vendors, we have almost twice as many who have already signed up compared to last year at this time,” said Sonie Watson, Director, Mississippi Street Fair. “This year’s fair has the same winning combination of, music, food, entertainment and fun for the whole family in Portland’s most diverse and up and coming neighborhood,” added Watson.
For those of you whom may not have had the benefit of attending this event the Mississippi Avenue street fair is a highly sought after event for vendors. Many people book their spots up to a year in advance, and space is limited but there are a few spots still available. Due to the overwhelming interest and requests received the deadline to sign up has been extended until all spots are filled or June 26th, whichever comes first. You can sign up online at www.misssissippiave.com or email questions to msfmgr@gmail.com
“Being a vendor at the Mississippi Avenue Street Fair is the most effective marketing opportunity available to an organization at such a reasonable cost,” said Tina Wyszynski, Program Manager for an innovation related nonprofit in the metro area. “I tell everyone one of my clients as well as anyone who has a small business or a cool product that if they do one event all summer it should be this one,” added Wyszynski.
This one-day event is always open to everyone, and all ages are invited. It is on July 11th from 10a.m. to 9p.m. All proceeds from the event benefit the Boise Elliot Elementary and Albina Youth Opportunity School.
