4cropFinally! My favorites and yours, The Liberators, are back this Thursday, July 23rd & next Friday, July 31st at The Brody Theater.

If you're a Liberators virgin – this is the perfect time to dive into their sensuality. And if you've seen them before working with another improv format, you must attend one of these two nights. The crew will be working with a format they call “Cutlass Supreme” which they describe as, “Improv horsepower with a smooth, sexy ride.”

Doesn't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy in all the right places?

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Girls, Champagne Socialists @ Backspace | July 23

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

NYC's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, were one of the most hyped acts of SXSW this year. They've gone from zero to 60 in the past months thanks to tons of internet hype, and play a fun lo-fi indie rock that translated very well to the party. TPOBPAH made cranking out impossibly catchy, low-key, and intimate, three-chord gems, that seem as natural and effortless as breathing. Their sound is reminiscent of The Go-Betweens, The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen, and The Stone Roses.

This is the kind of pop-perfection that can change your mood; the music your memories will stick to if you let it. Their consistent, amazing, performances have made them the well-deserved indie-darlings at this years SXSW and Backspace, I'm sure.

(Motley) Crüe Fest 2 @ Clark County Amphitheater | July 28 + Win Tickets!

(We have three pairs of tickets to give away for Crüe Fest! Look at bottom of post for info)

Yeah, I had a Dr. Feelgood poster on my wall through middle school. It was right next to my Aerosmith “Pump” poster and “The Land of Boz“. The Boz didn't really pan out (neither have the Seahawks), but the Crüe is still rocking. They arrive in the great Northwest & Clark County Amphitheater a week from today.

Just watch this NSFW video from last year's fest & know they can STILL make you feel all right…

Tonight: Fred Eckhardt's 18th Annual Beer & Cheese Tasting @ Rogue Ales Public House

Rogue Ales

Beer? Beer and cheese? Yes, please!

Fred Eckhardt's 18th Annual Beer and Cheese Tasting

So, who is Fred Eckhardt? The dean of American beer writers and a pioneer of blending beer with cheese, who has been described as Shakespeare's Puck reborn as a beer mensch," that's who. Eckhardt, as well as Tami Parr, the author of Artisan Cheese of the Pacific Northwest, well be present at this event. Essentially, Rogue (with the help of Eckhardt and Parr) will be offering a taste pairing of 10 microbrews with 10 cheeses. (Yumm!) Beer, unlike wine, is ideal to pairing with cheese since it has the carbonation to cleanse the palate while offering a broad range of flavors that enhance the flavors of the cheese.
