Celebrating the Art of Tattoo at Skinvisible

It was only a matter of time before the growing mainstream acceptance would lead to an art installation and gala event at the Portland Art Museum. Come check out the ongoing, temporary exhibition and enjoy a day devoted to the art of tattoo.

Marking Portland: The Art of Tattoo opened at the museum on June 20th and will continue through September 7. The exhibition looks at the history of tattoo as it relates to art and artifacts in the Museum's permanent collections. As part of this exhibition there are films, talks, and special programs planned. The Museum has included photography from Portland tattoo artists and Portlanders with tattoos in the galleries and as part of a multi-media presentation shown in the Whitsell Auditorium.

On Saturday, July 25 the Museum and MacTarnahan's Brewing Company are hosting a day-long extravaganza dedicated to the Art of Tattoo, Skinvisible. This tattoo review and expo

celebrates the art of tattoo through fashion, music, performance, and multimedia. Come see demonstrations and exhibits from local tattoo artists, see images of celebrity tattoos and get to learn more about this art form.

Plan to get tickets for a 3-Ring Tattoo Floor Show! In addition to tattoo demonstrations this runway style floor show includes magic, fire dancing, contortionism and burlesque featuring Rocket. Event held in the Kridel Grand Ballroom, 21+, two shows; 3 and 7PM
