Video: Nissan Zero Emissions Vehicle Unveiled In US/ Portland
August 1, 2009 — PDXPIPELINEIt is near dusk now and that means some of these Nisan Zero Emissions vehicles have been unveiled in DC and should be coming out here shortly. Here is info I received yesterday about it (emphasis mine):
After months of speculation, we're going to be unveiling our new fully electric car (not a hybrid!) for the first time Saturday night in Japan — which has been kept under wraps, so no one knows the name or has images of yet. While that goes on over there, we're offering a sneak peak in select US cities as well.
We will be projecting the first images of the new Nissan electric vehicle on various buildings around Pearl District/Old Town, Downtown, Industrial District in Portland at dusk. Your city was selected for this exclusive preview because of its strides toward sustainability and interest in electric cars.
The other cities are San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle and Washington D.C.
We put this video up in April of the original announcement.
Prototype Nissan EV Comes to Portland
Sam Adams and Ted Kulongoski
Portland, Oregon
From video: On Monday April 6, Portland Mayor Sam Adams and Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski welcomed Renault-Nissan and took a test drive in Nissan's new prototype electric vehicle.
I asked if this is the same vehicle and received this response back:
The answer is sort-of. That was a Nissan cube outfitted to be a a prototype without being actually the car – it won't look like that at all. This is the legitimate first time the car's been revealed – including name and actual appearance will be revealed.
Anyone seen the new Nissan prototypes and have pictures of these Pearl displays?
