This video might be a couple years old, but it gives a pretty good feel of Portland's Soap Box Derby. The derby is easily one of the top ten Portland events of the year with thousands in attendance to see a rather unique display of creativity, art, insanity, and partying.

The 2007 Portland Soapbox Derby at Mt. Tabor. Most of this was random footage I gathered while walking around during the day. My friends Zac and “Newlywed” George were in the Taqueria car. They sold a lot of tamales.

The black and white footage was shot with a modified Fisher-Price PXL 2000 camera. This is a toy camera Fisher-Price put out in the late 80's that would record video onto standard audio cassettes.

The first song is by the Minutemen, the second song is by De Falla. I have no idea what they are singing since the song is in Portuguese.

Some of the audio heard on this was from people standing next to my camera. I had a really hard time not using more of it.
