It looks like Clackamas is tired of being left out of the “Keep Portland Weird” action.

Hundreds to Unexpectedly Break Out in Viral Dance at Clackamas Town Center

Portland, Oregon — Saturday, September 5th, 2009 — Portland Improv, a social experiment and performing arts group known to push the limits on the social norm, will be hosting their latest event, dubbed, "Let's Dance!," at the Clackamas Town Clackamas Town Center at two o'clock p.m. within the main mall corridor in front of the Macy's Home Furniture Store. An audio track will begin playing through the mall speaker system, and two of our dancers will begin performing before the unsuspecting shoppers, followed by more and more of our dancers until all four-hundred are showing off their moves. By the end of three-minute dance, we hope to have many shoppers picking up the moves as well, right in time for the dance to end just as quickly as it began, while all of the dancers will dissipate into the rest of the crowd.

Portland Improv is a collective mainly comprised of college students who like to provoke joy and create scenes in public places. "Let's Dance!" will be Portland Improv's sixth event in Portland, the most famous of which being the Portland Freeze. The group coordinated over fifteen-hundred participants and had them all strike a pose and hold it for five minutes within the Pioneer Courthouse Square to literally freeze time. Recently, the Portland Freeze became an annual event and was replicated again alongside the Portland Rose Festival inside their Waterfront Village with even greater surprise and mayhem among bystanders.

This event shall be no different, but rather than frozen participants, joy will be spread through the beauty of dance and community. Please contact Reid Stady or Josh Enobakhare via the information above if you'd like more information.
