Night at the Museum – Portland Style | September 19

Posted by Sherri Montgomery

Join the Portland Art Museum and artists artist Harrell Fletcher and Jen Delos Reyes from Portland State University's Art and Social Practice Program, for a evening of participatory art at Shine A Light: A Night at the Museum.

The projects created for Shine a Light are intended to blur the boundaries between art and life and creating space for everyday moments to become a part of the Museum itself. Performances during the evening include musical acts, presenting the life of a boy in a painting, and a chance to view favorite selections from one of the museum's longtime curatorial volunteers. Each project seeks to provide new ways for people to experience the museum's collection.

In the Museum's sculpture courtyard there will be performances by local bands. Check out a printmaking demonstration at a mobile print factory. Inside the Museum there are games, more musicians, a project focused on saving endangered languages, and surprise video installations from the Northwest Film Center.

You can also sample art-inspired beers brewed by local breweries: Laurelwood, Old Lompoc, and Lucky Lab. Each of these breweries selected a work of art from the collection and used it as inspiration for a new beer to be unveiled at Shine a Light.

Advance tickets are available for purchase online (with $1 processing fee) or at the Museum.
