First Thursday @ Floating World Comics: New Mutants Book Signing & Art Exhibit
October 1, 2009 — PDXPIPELINEPosted by Kristen Imes
So who are the New Mutants and why should you be interested? Long story short,
“they were adolescents- kids- too young to be X-Men, but old enough to start the training that would allow them to fully understand and harness their profound mutant powers. Professor X brought them together to become the first New Mutants team.
Over time… they learned to become more powerful mutants together” Sounds a little cheesy, I'll give it that, especially when the main characters have names like Karma and Moonstar they sound more like hippies than super heros but then again, who am I to judge?
But this event really isn't just about New Mutants, it's also about its Portland-based creator, Zachary Baldus (who also draws graphics for Baker Skateboards, and has worked for MTV, Time, New York Times, Wall St. Journal, Penthouse, Mad Magazine, Golf Digest, The Criterion Collection, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics, Scholastic, Knopf Books, Puffin Books, etc.).
This October 1st Thursday, Zachary will be at Floating World Comics to celebrate the release of New Mutants #5, with an exhibit of original artwork and a book signing.
