After our dear friends brought us samples back from an organic, forest-grown farm in Costa Rica, we’re hooked! Mrs. @lollyrae & I would love to broaden our palates further with your help!
November 2, 2009 at 13:26
Because we love coffee and are cheap!!!
November 2, 2009 at 13:27
I want to take the hubby to the coffee fair, so he can understand why I love coffee so much!
November 2, 2009 at 13:29
I want to go to the coffee fair so I can back my coffee snobbery with actual education.
Jennifer
November 2, 2009 at 13:32
I’m a coffee snob and I love tasting different coffee from around the world. I don’t function without caffeine. I’ve been hooked ever since I went to Costa Rica and got to tour a coffee plantation and taste the real deal.
November 2, 2009 at 13:33
I love anything and everything coffee. This event sounds great!
November 2, 2009 at 13:34
Coffee is the thing
That keeps me warm and happy
In these cold, dark days.
November 2, 2009 at 13:40
My parents started me on coffee when I was seven, because the doctor recommended it for my ADHD. I’ve been a VERY dedicated trimethylxanthine addict ever since and a complete coffee snob. I deserve to go and be openly disdainful to anyone trying to serve “pedestrian swill.”
November 2, 2009 at 13:57
I would like to go because I love coffee and Sunday, November 8th is my birthday!
November 2, 2009 at 14:19
I have 2 friends visiting town this weekend, and winning these tickets would help facilitate:
A. educational time to balance out braincell-destruction time
B. sparing me from having to cook/buy them breakfast
C. maximizing their jealousy of all things Portland
November 2, 2009 at 14:34
I should win these tickets because my my roommates and I are poor college students who are hopelessly addicted to coffee. The fact that we spend all day, every day at the university or in the classrooms or hospitals, is a good enough reason to help us get our fix. As your future nurses and teachers, we’d love this experience, as we’ll make your days better and your futures brighter by learning how to brew our own perfect cup of coffee each day- without it, who knows if we can make it through school, let alone function efficiently in the future as amazing nurses and teachers. By providing us with this glorious coffee experience, you will help make Portland’s future generations healthier and smarter, as you will help us make it through school.
Thank you,
-Poor coffee addicted college students
November 2, 2009 at 14:42
I’d love to take my roommate, who tried giving up coffee once in college for a month and said she almost died. Well, maybe died is a strong word, but she has a serious thing for coffee. This would make her day!
November 2, 2009 at 15:13
My friend and I wouldn’t go without free tickets, but I’ve wanted to go since I heard about this event. I’m a Spella/Barista/Backspace/Red e/Ristretto fan and would like to know more about whatever they’re doing that keeps me coming back.
November 2, 2009 at 15:20
I am a new Portland resident working as an AmeriCorps VISTA (which means paid at the poverty line, not allowed a second job so therefore can barely afford the delicious fair trade coffee that’s so abundant in this city) who can’t go a day without a warm cup of coffee. I’d love the opportunity to learn about our local coffee connoisseurs in the company of other coffee lovers!

PS my favorite song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGzgwbnB7eM
November 2, 2009 at 16:59
I should win…because it’s my birthday this weekend…and because i’m a huge coffee addict!
November 2, 2009 at 17:20
I’d like to go because I go to starbucks twice a day and i’d like to find somewhere else to continue my coffee addiction. =)
November 2, 2009 at 17:41
The coffee industry has always seemed interesting. What once was a delicious beverage has grown to a full blown hobby. I am always looking for better cafes, coffees, and attend cuppings whenever possible. Recently, I have even started roasting! In the long run I could easily see myself in the business so am grateful for any opportunity to learn more, develop my pallet, or meet new people from the industry.
November 2, 2009 at 17:45
I want to go the the coffee fair to learn more about how to make the perfect cup of coffee. Plus I imagine it will smell heavenly.
November 2, 2009 at 17:49
Coffee is what got my husband and I together and with your help coffee will keep us together. My husband is a coffee expert but I lack any real knowledge, including how to make a good cup of coffee. (I’m also generally kitchen challenged but I won’t go into that) I would LOVE to learn and spoil my husband rotten for the rest of his life. On our fiftieth anniversary I would be able to say that I owe it all to you guys.
November 2, 2009 at 17:57
I would enjoy winning tickets to this because I freakin’ love coffee and I choke down office coffee all day long.
November 2, 2009 at 18:35
I want to learn how to brew the perfect cup!!!! Because I love all things coffee, and desire to spread that love to all.
November 2, 2009 at 22:19
Because this would make me somewhat less sad about future involuntary furniture-shopping trips to IKEA.
November 2, 2009 at 22:33
I should win tickets to the Coffee Fair because coffee is my boyfriend and if you take my boyfriend away I’ll be all alone, decaffeinated, exhausted, unable to work, drive, walk, talk, open my eyes or breathe and I’d hate to blame you for that ;-)
November 2, 2009 at 23:17
It’s 10:17pm and I just got done brewing a fresh pot.
November 2, 2009 at 23:44
I’m starting a home roasting business up, and I want to check out the competition and get some pointers!
November 3, 2009 at 14:35
Is there anything better than cup of coffee?
November 4, 2009 at 08:55
Coffee gives me a reason to get out of bed in the morning, and it’s one of the only drugs left for me to indulge in. Sobriety= lots of coffee! Thanks AA.
November 4, 2009 at 09:26
I love my cup of joe!! My favorite coffee shop is The Orignal Coffee Break in Aloha. Please check them out!!!
November 4, 2009 at 09:28
I’ve been drinking coffee since the age of 4. Terrible I know. I used to drink it out of this tiny little I<3NY mug and then a few years later I graduated to a creamy latte colored mug that was tall and sophisticated. The coffee snob in me was already starting to form when I demanded that my coffee be the same color as the mug or I wouldn't drink it. — Now in my later years I have grown to appreciate a great cup of black coffee or a nice strong latte. I wouldn’t go a day without the stuff! I would love to see what other coffees are out there that I have not yet had the experience to enjoy!
November 4, 2009 at 11:45
I work for New Avenues for Youth and would be ecstatic to bring a van full of youth for a sober recreation group! Many of them are learning how to be baristas in various job trainings and I think this would be an incredible exposure to the world of coffee! Not to mention that we survive on coffee :-D
November 4, 2009 at 12:46
My husband and I, as newlyweds (yay!), just moved to the Rose City. We heard that coffee is one of the two best ways (the other being PDX microbrews, of course) to survive the northwest winter months. We’re doing whatever we can to prep for survival mode during the dark, rainy days ahead.
November 4, 2009 at 14:39
plain and simple we LOVE coffee!
November 5, 2009 at 14:42
Ode to Coffee
When I wake up
I have to have a steaming cup
Ah, Java Beans..
This is even before I put on my jeans (gasp..)
Black or with Soy Cream,
It’s always such a dream.
Elementary, but reeking with hope, yes? :D
November 5, 2009 at 17:13
Some kids run straight to the candy isle when they enter the grocery store. Nope, not me! I made a direct + aggressive beeline to the coffee isle, flooding my nostrils with the sweet, succulent scents of coffee beans. I’m utterly convinced I was born with the stuff coursing through my veins. Ergo, I NEED to be at this festival. It is the fulfillment of my destiny!
November 5, 2009 at 18:24
It is our duty as Ptowners to show our friend from Florida ( who has relocated to PTown) the true meaning of good coffee. We want to get her out of her habit of brewing Folgers and become a little more excited about her morning brew. What better way to infuse her tastebuds than an event deticated to excellent coffee. She will be caffenated with the many choices that her folgers will immediately be replaced! Help us conquer this quest!!!!
November 5, 2009 at 18:43
why not
November 5, 2009 at 21:24
I would like to surprise my husband with a special day together. He’s an avid coffee lover and I would be his hero if I could treat him to something special.

Im new in Portland and a poor college student. I run on Coffee and would love to go to an amazing Portland event.
November 6, 2009 at 11:53
My husband and I met at a coffee shop 8 years ago, and this would be a fun way for us to reconnect. <3
November 6, 2009 at 11:53
i love good coffee. if that isn’t reason enough, i moved here from minneapolis minnesota and am completely stuck on the roaster peace coffee from back home. i want to go to get a better idea of the good local coffee here, as i LOVE portland and plan on staying. however, coffee is the elixir of life and i need my good fix! im also a poor college student, help!
November 6, 2009 at 11:55
Because I totally LOVE and am addicted to coffee! The lovely aroma of a well-made coffee is the best morning call :)
November 6, 2009 at 12:00
My husband and brother need to go to this. They both roast their own coffee and recently drove to Oakland from Portland for a two-hour class in roasting at Sweet Maria’s. We have also gone on a “coffee tour” of Costa Rica. I’d love to give them tickets for an event so close to home.
November 6, 2009 at 12:00
We love PDX, dark roast coffee, community, and most of all being part of the support for PDX Pipeline!!! WOOOOHOOO!!
November 6, 2009 at 12:01
My husband and I have some friends who are serving their delicious brews at the fair this weekend and we’d love to support them…and learn more coffee jargon then one needs to know! Thanks!
November 6, 2009 at 12:04
I would LOVE to attend! The dogs and I hike Wildwood Trail through the park every Sunday and we often poop out behind the WFC! WE’D LOVE to score a pair – PICK ME!
November 6, 2009 at 12:05
I should go because I literally can NEVER drink coffee, because it messes with my vocal chords… BUT I LOVE COFFEE. I miss it every single day. So I could have a weekend of sin and wonderment and enjoy so much coffee for just a day or two before I go back to my coffee embargo.
PLEASE PICK ME!! :)
November 6, 2009 at 12:06
I like coffee.
November 6, 2009 at 12:12
I want to win these tickets because I want to make my friends jealous.
November 6, 2009 at 12:15
i have been talking about going to this event with my friend who told me about it but i am unemployed and do not collect unemployment so i have zero income. She recently had to take unpaid time off from work due to a broken bone so she can’t afford it either! But we DO drink a lot of coffee and would surely pass on favorites to family and friends if we get to go for free!!!
November 6, 2009 at 12:17
I want to go to there.
November 6, 2009 at 12:27
I love love love coffee, almost too much! I want to go really bad with my boyfriend and show him that going to a coffee fair would be a fun thing to do and something that he should be interested in because his girlfriend is! We always do what he wants to do.
November 6, 2009 at 12:27
I would love to go because I was a southener growing up with no coffee background, and now that I live in the NW it’s almost my favorite part about it. Coffee is delicious and it makes me feel great…so yeah half flavor lover, half drug addict!
November 6, 2009 at 12:28
I’ve been a coffee addict since preschool age (I’m now a granny). I’m unemployed and can’t afford to go anywhere fun unless I’m lucky enough to win something free. My daughter and grandson live with me and I need to get out and have a break. I love the smell of coffee and I’d like to learn more at this fair. Who knows– maybe it would lead to a career change for me!
November 6, 2009 at 12:47
Coffee=love. I’m not a coffee snob, more like a coffee slut.
November 6, 2009 at 12:47
Because I am hoping to open a coffee shop of my own someday in the near near future and am, sadly, terrible at making it! This plan cannot live until the experts at this event show me how.
November 6, 2009 at 12:48
I’d like to go because I LOVE coffee and I’d love to learn more about it!
November 6, 2009 at 12:58
Would love to attend because I LOVE coffee and would really enjoy broadening my horizons – sounds like a lot of fun too!
November 6, 2009 at 13:38
Coffee, Coffee, Coffee! I am ready to be buzzed all day from the coffee fair………
November 6, 2009 at 13:44
There’s this thing called “addiction” that my girlfriend has and this event would feed that. Not to mention it was her 40th birthday a few weeks back and I got her the shittiest present I could muster. Really…I don’t even want to mention what it is. This might make her love me again.
November 6, 2009 at 13:54
I’ve tasted coffee from all corners of the globe and would like to see what this corner has to offer. Plus…what the hell else am I going to do this rainy weekend?
November 6, 2009 at 13:57
My friends and I don’t know much about coffee. Maybe this would get us into it, teach us a thing or two. We love these PDX festivals. Made alot of friends at those places, and took home a couple hotties once or twice. Caffeine-laden gazoongas? Oh yes.
November 6, 2009 at 13:57
Comment.
November 6, 2009 at 14:15
Coffee dates have become a weekly tradition for my family. It’s an opportunity for my parents, my sister, and I to meet up and spend some quality time together. We find a late night coffeehouse (the later they’re open the better), bring some playing cards, and coverse over a hot (or iced) cup. But it isn’t just the family time that I love…. I LOVE coffee. And I don’t NEED a frap or cap or even a mocha. When the coffee is good, a cup of Joe will do. I also don’t drink coffee for the jolt (honestly it just doesn’t do it anymore), rather I drink coffee because it makes me happy. With that first sip, my body instantly relaxes and my mind and soul are clear. It’s a spiritual experience…
November 6, 2009 at 14:29
I can’t think of a better way to warm up during this rainy weeekend. How fun! Please give me tix or I hope who ever wins them has a blast!
November 6, 2009 at 15:03
I’m a writer, which means two things.
I don’t make any money, and my morning coffee is my communion. Especially if there are cookies in the house.
