If you are going to brave the weather and check out the lighting, it a good idea to go a bit early as it is rather crowded by 4PM. A message from Chris about last year’s lighting ( plus another picture and video) here.

From Pioneer Square website:
On the day after Thanksgiving, Portlanders will gather at the Square to celebrate the official start of the season by lighting the spectacular 75ft Tree. Thousands of people are expected to attend the 25th annual Tree Lighting Event hosted by KGW NewsChannel 8 and Kink.fm with guests including local Dignitaries and music by The Patrick Lamb Band featuring Chosen Generation Gospel Choir.
The Burgerville Nomad will be on site all day serving up some of your favorite burgers, fries and shakes! NW Natural will host a Warm Zone so you can learn about their Gas Assistance Program (GAP) and how you can help warm up the homes of many in the Portland community. Cricket will also be here handing out the very popular Green Glow Buttons to brighten up the Square. The event will be televised LIVE on KGW NewsChannel 8! Big, bright and beautiful, this event unites the community in an evening of merriment and sharing for the whole family.
