Party Like It's 1967; New FREE Decade-Themed Dance Party Starts TONIGHT
December 3, 2009 — PDXPIPELINEPosted by Kimberly Gehl
East End's FREE Decade-Themed Thursday Night Dance Party – “Beat Club” – starts tonight and PDX's own DJ Rhienna has filled the Pipeline in on all the must-know information about this exciting new event.
Rhienna says that “Beat Club” is “just fantastic…[there's] really nothing like it in Portland” because 1) “it's an installation in the sense there will be projected images, videos, pictures and films from the year” and 2) it's “one of the few venues where people actually DRESS THE PART, so it often feels like you've just stepped into a time machine!” If that's not enough to lure you in, the East End will be featuring themed drink specials/drinks based on the year.
The 'DJ Rollcall' includes: DJ Patricia Furpurse, DJ Magic Beans (Maggie from kill rockstars), Roxie Epoxie, DJ Rhienna and DJF, who have been working hard to create decade/year-based playlists that include the top of the chart hits you recognize and love, as well as work from underground bands, songs from artists ahead of their time, and the “tragically-worst-trash-that's-totally-amazing-to-dance-to “miss” of that year.”
Each week will feature a different decade and each month will rotate through a specific year in each decade. (Decades span 1960s-1990s; in the event of a 5th Thursday, the DJ will spin music from the '00s).
The schedule for December is:
East End is located inner SE, a few blocks South of Burnside@Â 203 SE Grand Avenue.
Come tonight to see the lovely DJ Rhienna, who will be kicking off “Beat Club '67″ at 9 PM.
