Portland’s Iron Bartender Event & Fundraiser @ Radio Room | December 10

This is an event that we definitely recommend for these reasons: 1) The Giving Tree is a great non-profit to support, 2) sweet drinks, 3) Judges include Tres from Vood Doughnut, Party master Jedidiah and The Dandy Warhols’ Brent DeBoer, and 4) Jake is a good friend of the Pipeline and you should support him.

From press release:

The Bye and Bye’s Jake CareyPortland Bartenders Get Judged by Local Celebs at the Giving Tree’s 2nd Annual Iron Bartender Event.

Get ready for a night of drinks, dancing, and debauchery at this annual fundraising event for local nonprofit The Giving Tree.  From house parties to dance parties,

The Giving Tree is making a name for itself by hosting events that are decidedly different from your average stuffy fundraiser.  The dance floor at last year’s Iron Bartender event was packed, with everyone from Sam Adams to Santa in attendance, and this year looks like it will be even better.

It’s all going on at the Radio Room at 1101 NE Alberta on December 10, 2009.  Doors open at 7pm and the competition is set to start at 9:30pm. Your donation of $10+ gets you entry to the event, plus a raffle ticket for the chance to win one of the 9 unique cocktails mixed during the competition.  The Giving Tree recommends that you purchase admission in advance through the Give! Guide at www.wweek.com/giveguide by December 8 in order to guarantee admission.  Tickets will also be on sale at the door the night of the event.

In addition to the raffle for free drinks during the competition, the crowd will be able to buy $5.00 voting cards to vote on their favorite bartender.  The winner of the vote will get the People’s Choice Award, and for each vote cast, the voter will also be entered into a drawing to win supersweet prizes (free professional housecleaning, anyone?), so everyone wins!  After the competition DJ’s Freaky Outy and Nathan Detroit will rev things up on the dance floor, and all night long the Radio Room will feature some amazing, one-night-only drink specials.

Judges:
The Dandy Warhols’ Brent DeBoer
Lucy Brennan, mixologist extraordinaire from Mint/820
Tres Shannon from Voodoo Doughnut
Cherry, Fire Entertainer of the Year
Jedediah “Diamond” Aker of Diamond Tuck and Barfly fame

Competitors:
Returning champ Jake Carey from the Bye and Bye
David Shenaut from the Teardrop Lounge
Jen Priest from the Radio Room

Prizes from:
McMenamin’s
Personal Touch Cleaning
Gypsy Rose Salon

and more!

Admission drops to $5 at 11pm, so if dancing is your aim we are still your game, and Freaky Outy and Nathan Detroit will be sure to make the trip worth your while.
