Rose City Rollers Season 5 Opening Bout at the Expo Center
See all four of Portland's home teams square off in a double elimination tournament to kick off the 2010 season standings. High Rollers face the Guns N Rollers, Break Neck Betties vs. the Heartless Heathers and winners of the first round will play for first place seeding. Each match up will last a single period (30 minutes/half bout) and you'll see 4 matches total!

Rose City Rollers:something great here in our city that encourages our women to be strong and intuitive. I want to go do something free and uplifting this weekend!

My 3 kids(two which are girls) would totally love it! I’ve lived in P-town all my life, but never seen roller derby! It would be fun….I’d like to be out there kickin’ it up and knockin’ em down too!!!

Roller derby rocks and they have the sweetest socks. The opening drums session fills me with excitement, it makes me wanna play!
Because I just found out my buddy Becca Stavenjord is a roller Derby grrrl! and our Clinic phlebotomy extraordinaire Mary is also involved – (coach?) And more importantly because we have never been yet and keep saying we need to go support our friends! Think I can dig up a couple of extra bra’s to throw…….oh yeah and Becca has B.On.B. so I’m sure we’ll miss her skating out there, but we’ll have to catch her in about 9 months!

Because Roller Derby is GRRRRLLLLL Power at its best and Portland gals rock! Guys get all the other semi-violent sports like football and hockey. It’s refreshing to see some hard knock vixens battling it out on skates.

I would love to go see the Roller Derby! Every time I’ve tried to get tickets it’s sold out or been cancelled (in my home town) for some reason.

My 7 yr old loves rollerskating. In fact his next birthday party in Feb. will be at Skateworld in Hillsboro. We were talking last Sunday about Portland’s Roller Derby & he was super excited. Would love to take him to the opening game to experience a quintessentially Portland passion.

been dying to check out a roller derby game since my sister-in-law (bruise control) helped start the green mtn derby dames in vermont. i’m a recent transplant to portland from the east coast and i now have a chance to finally see what she’s been so into the past few years! would love to see all the local teams show off their stuff!

I made it to the season final last year and loved it! I would love to have 2 tickets to take my best friend to the opening to get her hooked on this as well… Nothing says Portland like the Roller Derby. I can’t wait to see the documentary when it is released in Feb, was disappointed that I couldn’t go to the opening.

I was a cynic, I admit, but then, then I was invited to see Roller Derby in Chicago….I was blown away. The excitement, the thrill of the battle, what’s not to love. Let me hear the sweet sound of the wheels, the delight in the quirky names, the beauty of the battle – hard fought and won. I really want to see Roller Derby in PDX. If it helps my cause any….I have been unemployed for a year and a free night out would be extremely appreciated. :)

I remember growing up watching my 5’2 German mother get into watching the derby on TV and I was so excited to see her transform from a ‘hausfrau’ into an empowered woman who scared the living b-jeesus out of me.
I’m a mom of two girls now. One of them under five feet, a derby fan and a young woman graduating from H.S this year heading out into the world. I would love the opportunity to share this experience with her.

Roller Derby is true physicality, sweaty- with a hint of danger, and it overflows rough sexuality. That could describe a Casual Encounter, right? We’ve made one night last one year. I grew up with roller derby in LA, glued to the TV to watch the action. Back in the late ’60s it was amazing to see women taking charge of the real estate and kicking ass. My sister-in-law and niece are now roller derby refs in Los Angeles. So cool!
