Portland May Day March & Rally Will Bring Out 10,000 – 20,000 People
April 27, 2010 — PDXPIPELINEWe just got this email a couple hours ago from the Portland Freedom Socialist Party. If you see 10,000+ people marching through Portland on Saturday, this is most likely why. The picture below is from the march in 2006.
From Press Release:
Celebrate the international working-class holiday in downtown Portland on May 1st!
Rally and march with the Freedom Socialist Party and thousands of Oregonians
to show your working-class pride and global solidarity:
Open the Borders — Amnesty for all immigrants
Elected Civilian Police Review Board with Authority to Discipline
Money to Save Homes, Not Banks
Stop the Privatization of Public Universities
Free Abortion on Demand
Free Living-Wage Childcare for All
Gather at SW Park and Salmon starting at 11am. Rally at 12 noon and hit the streets at 1pm. This event is sponsored by the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition, Portland Jobs with Justice, and other local civil rights groups and labor unions. For the complete list of sponsors, visit http://maydaypdx.blogspot.com
Find the FSP's table on the SE Corner of SW Park and Salmon. We'll be marching with our "Open the Borders!" banner. For more information or to hook up with the FSP, call 503-240-4462 or e-mail fsp@igc.org
There's nothing like marching through town with 10,000 — 20,000 of your brothers and sisters and knowing its happening around the world, too.
Looking forward to seein' you out there!
In Solidarity,
Travis Giobbi
Portland Freedom Socialist Party
