May 12, 2010 — PDXPIPELINEWe have another street fair this weekend, and it is the Alberta Art Hop. This one is sure to bring out several thousand people who haven't been able to enjoy a good Last Thursday in a while…you have everything you want from street closures to 70+ degree weather to art to music to…well, a big party.

Art Hop is Art on Alberta's (AoA) day-long celebration held each May.
On Saturday, May 15, 2010 from 11am to 6pm, Art on Alberta will hold its 11th Annual Art Hop with the theme, "ABC: Art Builds Community." Over 15 blocks of NE Alberta Street will be closed to car traffic to accommodate 150+ artists, craftspeople, music, dance and theater performances, interactive art events along with food and other vendors. This is a free arts event for kids of all ages! Come have some fun!
For Art Hop 2010, we plan to have several murals painted and displayed at multiple venues along NE Alberta Street. AoA is partnering with the neighborhood nonprofit organization Community Energy Project.
We have also chosen artist/muralist, Rodolfo Serna, who will work with local schools and youth organizations to design murals to be painted by those parties, as well as the attending public, on Art Hop day. All murals will be painted on plywood and mounted later to building walls with the help of another NE Alberta Street nonprofit organization, Oregon Tradeswomen.
Binks, Siren Nation, Bitch Media, Radio Room & Destination DIY are sponsoring stages with ongoing events throughout the day.
A special exhibit of the original works used to create "Art in Hand- The Portland Project," unique playing cards designed by 54 local artists will be on display during Art Hop and decks will be available for sale. a deck of
