This Weekend: QDoc @ Clinton Street Theater | Only Queer Documentary Film Festival In The US

June is Pride Month and Portland's Fourth Annual Queer Documentary Film festival returns this Thursday to Clinton Street Theater.

From PLGFF Press Release
QDoc, the only queer documentary film festival in the US, begins June 3 and runs through June 6 at the Clinton Street Theater. This is the festival's fourth year of bringing queer documentaries to Portland.

PLGFF recommends the film William S. Burroughs: A Man Within which screens Saturday, June 5 at 6:00 pm. Burroughs, along with the poet Allen Ginsberg, was a dominate voice in American beat literature-one of the most innovative and influential literary periods in American history.

The film features previously unseen footage of Burroughs and interviews with John Waters, Laurie Anderson, Gus Van Sant, David Cronenberg, Patti Smith, Iggy Pop and many others. Burroughs was one of the first to cross the dangerous boundaries of queer and drug culture in the 1950s, and write about his experiences. Eventually he was hailed the godfather of the beat generation and influenced artists for generations to come.
