Portland Festival of Flowers
at Pioneer Courthouse Square
“Weaving Tradition”
This year's floral instillation “Weaving Tradition” is inspired by the bright colors and intricate patterns of the Native American blankets woven by Pendleton Woolen Mills since 1909.
Nearly 20,000 plants will blanket Pioneer Courthouse Square in the colorful triangular pattern of the Eye Dazzler, a blanket created as a tribute to the Navajo weavers of the late 1800s who begun using colorful new dyes in their handspun wool rugs.
The annuals, perennials, herbs and reclaimed timber benches in Weaving Tradition convey Oregon's strong custom of sustainable backyard gardening.
Flower Sale begins June 16th at 8:00AM
salvia, impatiens, lobelia, pansies, marigolds, vegetables, grasses and more starting at only $0.83 a piece.
