- Bicycle Touring Workshop Hawthorne Host, 6-9PM: (3031 SE Hawthorne Blvd)
Are you a regular bicycle rider but have never taken a bicycle tour? Now that summer is here, are you itching to hit the open road once the weather gets nicer and explore nature in a way you haven't yet?
Then join us to learn more about Self-Supported Bicycle Touring. We'll be discussing equipment, planning, and cost as well as day-to-day life on the road. We'll also have a few loaded touring bikes to check out.
This class is FREE. Donations accepted. - “Eine Brise”: Fear No Music 7:30-8:30PM @ Mt Tabor Park: How much music can 111 bicyclists make? Fear No Music wants you to join in a “fugitive action” and perform “Eine Brise” (“A Breeze”) by avant-garde composer and general all around trickster, Mauricio Kagel. Â Yep, it's a piece for 111 people riding bikes and making strange and wonderful sounds in the night air. Â Join us at the top of Mt. Tabor for a performance. Â No musical training necessary. Â All you need is a bike with a bell, a helmet, and a free spirit. Â Fear No Music will have all the instructions for the performance at the top of Mt. Tabor.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday after the break…
Tuesday Portland Bike/ Pedalpalooza Picks, June 15
- Tour D'Hawthorne 4:45-6:15PM, Meet @ SW Naito Pkwy & Jefferson St: Established soon after the construction of the Hawthorne Bridge in 1910, the Tour d'Hawthorne is a daily bicycle race in Portland, Oregon. Â In recent years, gas prices and the New York Times travel section have driven participation up to over 7,000 racers per day. Â Unfortunately, not all of the participants realize that they are in a race and foot traffic occasionally interferes with the exciting afternoon stage. Â Join us on the Hawthorne bridge to cheer for these righteous raincoat-clad athletes.
- SE Portland Ponds Ride 5:30-7:30PM, Meet @ Reed College, North Parking Lot, SE 33rd Ave & Steele St: Come join us on this leisurely, beautiful 10 mile tour of some of the most spectacular ponds, lakes, creeks, marsh, and rivers you'll ever see. If you drive here, Park as close as you can to SE 33rd Ave and SE Steele St.  Ride your bike into the North parking lot of Reed College.  That is where we'll meet.

Warning, some of these shortcuts are narrow, so trailers or wide cargo-bikes might have trouble. This is a no-drop ride which means there will be someone to help if you have a flat and no rider will be left behind. End-point is TBD.
- Pedal Potluck Picnic, 6-9PM Alberta Cooperative Grocery, 1500 NE Alberta St (meet in front of co-op): The PPP returns for its SIXTH season!  A casual bicycle ride traversing approx. 3-5 miles (5-8km) with a different route each time. The end destination is a mystery park.  The term “park” will be used liberally here, so expect the unexpected! At the endpoint we'll enjoy a picnic dinner. Eating will be potluck style, so please bring food and drink to share (preferably vegetarian/vegan). Bring lights! Please bring your own silverware, plate, and cup. If it looks like it'll rain we'll end up at a COVERED destination.
- Bikey Singles Mixer Meet @ 7PM under Hawthorne Bridge Eastside, SE Main St and Eastbank Esplanade: Are you a pro-bike single looking for love? Or maybe just a bikey hook-up? Stop cruising the internet! Meet other local singles for a bike ride mixer. No pressure ride, lots of fun. Dress to impress! (Whatever that means to you) Â We will be taking the loop of love (i.e. hawthorne bridge- the esplanade – waterfront loop) to the local bar Crush on 14th and Morrison. Bring ID, some money for booze and your best cheezy pick-up line!
