Portland City Faire: Portland's First Large Annual FREE Barter & Trade Artisan Festival @ Laurelhurst Park | July 17 & 18

This is a month from tomorrow, but I figure since the weather is not conforming to many of the wonderful outdoor Portland events right now, you can start making things to barter. Plus, you should probably get your vendor/performer registration in soon if you want to participate.

Update From Website:: “THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUETO A LACK OF INTEREST ON BEHALF OF WARE VENDORS AS OF JUNE 17TH 2010.”

From Portland City Faire Website:
PORTLAND CITY FAIRE 2010
JULY 17TH-18TH
SATURDAY 10AM-10PM
SUNDAY 10AM-8PM
Laurelhurst Park
FREE EVENT

Portland City Faire is an eclectic festival inspired by the realization that citizens are brought together by community and celebration. The event is designed to be low cost for vendors, as we charge only what we need for basic festival operations, and the best part is that it is a FREE event for all in the community.

So what makes Portland City Faire different from other festivals? Great question…our purpose is to serve as a bridge to community members who are not familiar with, or would not normally participate in barter/trade. All products and services at the event (except food) are open to the public for barter and trade. Vendors and service providers are allowed to use traditional methods of payment, however we encourage barter and trade when and where ever possible.

Participate, Vend, Perform

Interested in vending, performing or teaching a workshop?

Here is what you need to know:

1.) You must make everything you wish to sell or barter (no commercial or wholesale items accepted).

2.) Though financial transactions will be accepted, this is a barter and trade event… so all vendors must be open to and willing to participate.

3.) Download, read, and fill out the event application and mail it in. (See vendor application)

VENDORS: All booth spaces are 10X10 in size. A booth space is a one time cost of $99 for the whole weekend. If you require more space you may purchase an additional 10X10 space for the same price. (See application for details).

In the spirit of barter and trade:

If you are a vendor who offers a product or service that will help out our festival, make us an offer and you may get your booth space for a reduced cost or for free!

WHAT WE NEED: T-shirts, Paper Printing, Volunteers (trash & recycling, first aid, greeters), advertising etc…

Headline (main stage individuals or groups) will however, receive a free gift voucher booklet from all of the 200+ participating wares and service vendors, as well as a free 10X10 booth space (near the main stage & food areas) to advertise, barter and sell merchandise for the duration of the event. Additionally, your name will be also be listed on all major event advertising and websites. (See application for details).

Is this on or not? The Faire web site has this notice at the top of its About Us page:

    “THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
DUETO A LACK OF INTEREST ON
BEHALF OF WARE VENDORS AS OF
    JUNE 17TH 2010.”

    ???

No :( I contacted the person running it. They didn’t have enough people to sign up and all of her volunteers crapped out so she’s left alone. She said if someone wants to totally take over they’re welcome to, but I don’t have the time right now for a big project :P

    I’m bummed though!
