Update – 2012 Portland Movies In The Park Schedule: Goonies, ET, Pretty In Pink, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, & More

————————-

The Portland “Movies in The Park” series begins this weekend with ‘The Wiz’ (not this awesome Wiz) on the one year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death. It is one of the great events of Portland summer (which apparently is now Portland Spring The Squeakquel Sequel).

Some quick notes and observations:

  • 3 Squeakquels?
  • For our Spanish speaking Portlanders, family and friends: Shrek II in Spanish (July 29, with English subtitles). Arizona is not happy…
  • Have not heard of ‘Deathbowl to Downtown’ (August 13), but sounds like an interesting movie
  • Lots of rock climbing
  • Most interesting: Lost World with the Filmusik orchestra
  • Pre-movie entertainment begins at 6:30 PM - Movies begin at dark

    • Julian Chadwick June 25, 2010 at 15:11 #

    • Julian Chadwick June 26, 2010 at 17:10 #

I don’t know. Perhaps copy & paste the info into a document then & print that.

Can we bring folding chairs to sit in?

    • daVe July 13, 2010 at 21:47 #

most folks like to sit low, on blankets, so bringing folding chairs might be a bit rude if you’re more elevated than those behind you. but if you plan to sit in the very back or way off to the side, OR if you have folding chairs that are pretty much on the ground, then that seems a more neighbor-friendly way to go.

or at least, that’s my two cents.

thanks for answering. did not see the other comment until now. had a lot of comments this month thanks to giving away beer fest packages.

Do you know the alcohol policies for the movies in the park?

    • Jennifer D. July 16, 2010 at 15:48 #

I believe it is allowed. Last year, I watched a couple on their blanket open a bottle of wine and they had the cutest wine glasses too. I’ve also seen people bring small coolers with beer. Just note I observed this, don’t know if it is legal. You might want to call the parks and confirm, 503-823-7529.

Sorry, but I think you guys are off a tad. We are having The Fantastic Mr. Fox in the park tonight at Dickenson park in SW Portland. If you’re going to be informative, you need to be accurate, but thanks for trying anyway! By the way the music is about to begin at 7:00. Movie at dusk.

    • Julian Chadwick July 17, 2010 at 19:19 #

That’s a bit harsh I think. It does appear that our info is off, but that is only b/c we got it from the city’s site and their info was off. It appears they have now taken down the full list page and changed the info as well.

We always try to be accurate and are 99+% of the time. Thanks for letting us know when we aren’t.

    • Julian Chadwick July 17, 2010 at 19:24 #

and…also we were/are not wrong. We had Transformers @ Ed Benedict Park, which is happening and they apparently a new movie without informing us. Sorry, I just don’t have time to monitor their website every day for updates, but if you see them, send them along. You can email us @ pdxpipeline@gmail.com.
