Art Alexakis, The High Rollers of Portland's Rose City Rollers and Other Local Officials Lead Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Marking Completion of Road Improvements to NW 23rd Avenue Merchants commemorate street re-opening with NW 23rd Avenue Street-A-Fair Celebration, July 9 – 11

Everclear front man Art Alexakis will emcee the NW 23rd Street A-Fair July 10th from 11-8. He'll be joined by Bureau of Transportation Director, Susan Keil and members of the High Rollers of Portland's Rose City Rollers to officially kick-off the reopening of NW 23rd Avenue.

After several months of street closures due to a major reconstruction project, the merchants of NW 23rd Avenue are throwing a party to celebrate the new look of this vibrant thoroughfare and everyone is invited to attend. "Even though the street just re-opened, were closing it down from Hoyt to Johnson on July 10th in the name of fun!" Says Deborah Haynes, one of the organizers of this event.

Throughout the weekend, local restaurants will be offering a special $5.00 Taste of 23rd Avenue menu and the annual sidewalk sale will be in full swing. Saturday's highlights include a fashion show, a skateboard demonstration by EXIT real world, a street art competition, stage performances by local musicians including Karaoke From Heck and Alan Singley and the Pants Machine, dog adoption and even a visit from Curious George, to name a few. We will wrap everything up on Sunday beginning at 11:30 AM with the 1-mile Hip Hound Parade.
