Poor Man's Whiskey and Fruition
August 13 at 9:00pm
Mt. Tabor Theater
4811 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard Portland
Poor Man's Whiskey's “High-Octane Hootenanny” will certainly delight those interested in a foot-stompin good time. Poor Man's Whiskey has evolved into a ragged, spontaneous beast pulling from equally deep wells of story-telling originals, expertly crafted covers and zany on-stage shenanigans. The Bay Area's outlaw music bards bring a reputation for high-energy live shows and an incomparable fusion of folk, punk, rock, and disco to stages and festivals nationwide.
Local bluegrass dogooders Fruition may just be the next bluegrass band to hit the big time…well as big-time as bluegrass can be. They've got the chops, a fantastic record and a growing base of supporters. Here's what Nat Keefe of Hot Buttered Rum has to say, “I've seen Fruition play a few times this year and it's always been stellar. This soul/blues string band from Portland, OR are the biggest rock stars I've seen with acoustic instruments.” —Nat Keefe, Hot Buttered Rum
Cost: Tickets are $10 at the door.
