There is going to be a “Where's Waldo” scavenger hunt game this Saturday in downtown Portland. Only $5 to play and all money goes to benefit the Portland Public schools.

Where's Waldo
August 28 – downtown Portland

How The Game Works:
Someone will be dressed up as Waldo wandering around downtown. Your job (as a player) is to find Waldo.

Waldo will occasionally send out postcards via text message including a recent landmark he was at a few minutes before. The message will be sent to all registered players. This should help people find Waldo if it's too hard.

You will also be given a checklist of items to find, just like in the books.

What Time? 11 AM to 5 PM

Where To Start: We'll have staff volunteers with badges and clipboards standing in front of the Courthouse (on 6th Ave between Yamhill and Morrison) where people can pay and ask questions.

Everyone will get an information sheet about the game, including a street map showing the 9×9 block area that Waldo can be in, and a checklist of items to find.

How To Win: You win by taking a picture of you (or your group) with Waldo and bringing it back to the starting point. There will be some small prizes for the winners. There's a special prize if you find all the items on the checklist. Remember to obey the street signals and wait for cars, buses, and Max trains! DO NOT RUN!

Suggested Ages: 10+ (of course you can bring younger kids of any ages if you feel they will be interested)

Cost to Play: $5 per person (children under 10 are free)
The proceeds will go to Portland Public Schools. We'll also accept additional donations for Portland Public Schools. Feel free to donate more than $5.

What Players Should Bring:

• $5 per person age 10 and over
• Bring a digital camera, polaroid camera, or cell phone with a camera to take a picture of you with Waldo. Everyone who brings a picture of themselves with Waldo wins a prize!
• You or your group should have at least 1 cell phone (optional) to receive text messages during the game about Waldo's whereabouts.
