TBA DAY EIGHT: FEMINIST FILMS, JOHN JASPERSE, SURF PUNKS

A little rain never slowed down a Portland festival! Last night, you were rocked by In the Solitude and moved to tearful laughter by Nature Theater. Our closing weekend moves into full swing today with triple-showings of Emily Johnson's The Thank-you Bar, and the first night of John Jasperse Company.

4:30 PM – The Wooster Group: THERE IS STILL TIME..BROTHER at PCPA Brunish Hall

Revisit The Wooster Group's elliptical narratives and in-the-round theatrics. This boundary-breaking piece layers film clips, war stories, night-vision porn tapes, Rosie O'Donnell's blog, and some of the most marvelous technical effects you've ever seen. It demands a second viewing.

6:30 PM – HARD EDGE, HARD WORK at Northwest Film Center Whitsell Auditorium
8:30 PM – John Jasperse: Truth, Revised Histories, Wishful Thinking, and Flat Out Lies at Lincoln Hall

Stephanie Snyder, curator of Reed College's Cooley Gallery will present the last screening of a very special collection of feminist film and video works that exist at the boundaries of abstraction. Then, John Jasperse Company debuts its PICA-commissioned Truth… on the Portland stage–it's a bold, sexy, funny, and smart look at illusion and the elusive grasp for meaning in art.

10:30 PM – Guantanamo Baywatch at THE WORKS at Washington High School

The papier-mâché has been flying for the last two months on the third floor of WHS, as Guatanamo Baywatch has developed their TBA:10 show. Expect sludgy surf-tunes, bodacious babes, and dinosaurs. The trio ups the ante by sharing the stage with Oakland-based doo-wop rockers Shannon and the Clams.
