Our partners at Holocene have two big Portland Halloween parties this weekend. Saturday night is a special Halloween edition of the long-running SNAP! party. Here are many Portland Halloween pictures we took at this packed party in 2008.

They are following it up with a FIN DE CINEMA on Sunday with Japanese horror films and a disco dance party (Full info below).

Get out of your normal Halloween routine and come kick it with us. 90′s costumes highly encouraged! Think Janet, Mary J Blige, Toni Braxton, Mariah Carey, Monica, Aaliyah, and Ce Ce Peniston.

SNAP! first began with the idea of combining DJs and live entertainment like the old TV Hit Club MTV. As SNAP! grew and moved to a new space that unique idea was lost in the shuffle. This Oct. 30th we are pleased to present some live entertainment for the masses!!!

We will be featuring two of Portland's favorite Queer acts, Chi Chi & Chonga and Mizz Ecstasy Inferno!

Chi Chi Pussyculo & Chonga Bonga
Recent East LA transplants have taken this town by storm with hyena-like theatrics and a huge cloud of weed smoke trailing behind. Their high energy/drama performances have wowed audiences from Blow Pony to Miss Thing and Peep Show. Their variety show includes LIVE RAPPING covers, original songs and stand-up comedy.

Mizz Ecstasy Inferno
Known as Portland's Hottest Plus Size Hoodrat and the new Miss Gay Pride Portland, Mizz Ecstasy Inferno is certainly the embodiment of DIVA FIERCENESS!!! Mizz Inferno hosts a slew of events including Candy Shop and Miss Thing. Watch as she struts her hot ass across the stage to one of your favorite 90′s jams.

In addition to the live performances, we will have two special guest DJs, Kez (The Fix) and Automaton (Babe Cave, Red Cap). You know them and you love them! Come and give them a special SNAP! welcome. And our resident Colin Jones will be holding it down for the OG SNAP! crew.

October 31: FIN DE CINEMA | Music, Dancing & Japanese Cult Horror Film

In this very special Halloween edition of Fin de Cinema, we present the mind-boggling Japanese haunted house flick House (Hausu)! This psychedelic barrage for the senses dazzled Portlanders citywide in its theatrical release by Janus Films earlier this year, and now, we present it with a soundtrack vividly re-imagined by some of Portland's finest synthesizer-wielding artists!

How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi's indescribable 1977 movie House (Hausu)? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby-Doo as directed by Mario Bava? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt's creaky country home and comes face-to-face with evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions, all realized by Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects. Equally absurd and nightmarish, House might have been beamed to Earth from some other planet. It's one of the most exciting cult discoveries in years.

Taking up scoring duties for this unforgettable film will be three of Portland's finest synth-based outfits, churning out a score as gorgeously dramatic and relentlessly energetic as this mind-boggling film itself. Soft Metals, who take ample cues from Italo Disco in their entrancing dance floor epics, will be joined by local techno great Arohan for a special collaborative set. Jewels of the Nile make brooding, gothic pop, shrouded in ancient mystery. Reporter bring a glamorous and celestial breed of synth-rock for a composition sure to be delightfully otherworldly.

But wait. There's more! We'll have dancing all night as soon as the film wraps up! Nightclubbing residents Linger & Quiet have prepared a radically ambitious, 100% Halloween-themed disco set for us this evening!
