About Aloe Blacc: "The finest slice of vintage-sounding, piano- and horn-powered funk we've heard in quite some time. We're not usually big on nostalgia parties, but if you can't enjoy a few laps in the "I Need a Dollar" pool, you're officially dead inside." ~XLR8R

Aloe Blacc has said his purpose for music is positive social change, and his new album, Good Things, is all about that. The personal turns into the political, with songs about joblessness, homelessness, and more, weaving throughout. It's thought provoking work, paired with head-turning tunes that channel jazz, hip-hop, R&B, and soul. Songs such as "I Need A Dollar" and "Miss Fortune" are thought provoking and full of groove, his production partnership with Truth & Soul duo Leon Michels and Jeff Silverman apparent with its old-school cool.

I have tolled at least half a dozen people to go to this show and they definitely did not know about the dude before.

Aloe Blacc is sultry, smooth, talented and simply wonderful. I would love to see some beautiful music in the Portland area that my ex actually isn’t involved with. Not that I don’t like him…it’d just be nice to know I could bring a date and not have it be an awkward ex moment! Please PICK ME, OVER HERE!!!!!!!
