Win Tickets ($100+): The Oregon Symphony Brings You Cirque de la Symphonie For The HolidaysThe Oregon Symphony brings you Cirque de la Symphonie for the Holidays
November 27 7:30pm and November 28 2:00pm
Tickets: 503-228-1353  |  http://www.orsymphony.org

The Schnitz will take on a decidedly three-ring aura as the always awe-inspiring sound of the Oregon Symphony is enhanced with equally thrilling visuals supplied by a troupe of world-class circus performers. Except for the missing elephants and tigers (absent for obvious reasons), the show includes virtually everything one might expect to find at a circus: aerialists, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers and strongmen - all performing live in front of, and above, the orchestra, to a myriad of traditional holiday favorites. There'll be more than a little humor and magic.

It’ll be a wonderful treat for the whole family on Thanksgiving weekend.

Gregory Vajda, conductor
Cirque de la Symphonie, performing artists

Would love to see this show. Sounds like a very unique idea and fun.

    • sweetart98663@aol.com November 18, 2010 at 19:24 #

I would like to win the tickets so I could take my mom to see it. We try to do something special every year together for the holidays but can’t afford to this year.

    • Leanna November 18, 2010 at 23:07 #

I would love to go to this event. I have heard great things about it. My mother and I would have a great time going to this.

    • Julie November 20, 2010 at 21:38 #

This sounds incredible! I would love to go:)

    • Roxanne Traviss November 20, 2010 at 23:30 #

I cannot say I am more deserving them someone else because that is not fair to others. But I can say I will enjoy it immensly. These performers are sooo beautiful to the eye. I saw a cirque de solay show some years back when I was with my old boyfriend. It was just beautiful really so breathtaking how very very pretty it was. November 28th is my birthday I have no plans and it would really make my birthday.
      Roxanne Traviss.

I have always wanted to go to a show that captures both the greatness of a full symphony and the masterful artistry of the body.

  2. Paul Smith November 17, 2010 at 12:06 #

My wife and I are new to Portland as of May and have been looking forward to an awesome reason to go to the Scnhitz. We’re going to be away from family for Thanksgiving (a good thing in my book :-/) and I’d love to have something special to take us to.

  3. Ross November 17, 2010 at 12:06 #

The Oregon Symphony is great even without acrobats! Sign me up.

  4. Anna November 17, 2010 at 12:07 #

Looks like a great way to kick off the holidays! Would love to go!

  5. FuR November 17, 2010 at 12:09 #

I’d love to be able to take my girlfriend to this for her birthday.

    Thanks!

  6. Gary Powell November 17, 2010 at 12:09 #

I would love to win this and treat my wife to a special holiday concert of the Oregon Symphony!

  7. Rob November 17, 2010 at 12:18 #

I would like to win these tickets so I can take my wife to this show. It was her birthday at the beginning of the month and I was unable to get her anything really nice. It is also our two year wedding anniversary next month and I would really really like to suprise her.

  8. Albert Ellenich November 17, 2010 at 12:30 #

I am visiting Portland for the week of Thanksgiving and would love to check out the local culture in style by kicking off the Christmas season with this performance.

  9. Hollie November 17, 2010 at 12:31 #

I’d love to go to this for obvious reasons, but it would be a fun thing to do for myself because I have to work Thanksgiving and need some fun time.

  10. Soco November 17, 2010 at 12:32 #

Reason I would like to attend is because I have never been to either a symphony performance or Cirque de aerialist performance-tickets are just too much for my family to afford. It would be an Awesome treat. Thanks!

  11. Suzi November 17, 2010 at 12:32 #

I’ve never been to the Schitz and would love to attend the symphony… and to add acrobats — wow.

  12. Justin November 17, 2010 at 12:36 #

This would be a unique experience and I’m all up for that. I know my girl would enjoy being taken to an event like this. The Oregon Symphony is actually quite astonishing on it’s own but this would just be amazing.

  13. Matsya Siosal November 17, 2010 at 12:36 #

The symphony feeds my soul and the circus feeds my heart, send a hungry girl to the show!

  14. Kenn November 17, 2010 at 12:42 #

I would love to attend since I am contemplating a move to Portland so I would enjoy seeing a performance by their Symphony. Anytime to see a Cirque related show is also a plus.

  15. Philip Mandel November 17, 2010 at 12:44 #

My elderly Mom, all 94 years-old of her, would love it! But if she’s not feeling well that day, my 24-year-old daughter would love it, too. What the heck, if I win I’ll go ahead and buy a ticket and bring both of them!

  16. Lori Callister November 17, 2010 at 12:44 #

I can think of nothing more transporting than walking in from the street shiny with rain, settling into my seats and letting the music greet me. Magical.

  17. Z November 17, 2010 at 12:48 #

As a new transplant to Portland, its my first holiday season away from my family, and with my girlfriend in my new city. To lack eloquence, this show seems like it would be an awesome experience, and combines all the elements of an amazing show. Moving across country drained my pockets (and bank) and can not otherwise afford to attend.

It would be amazing to us both if we won these tickets. Thank you!

  18. I need a job November 17, 2010 at 12:49 #

Would really live to gift my Scroogey man a night at the Symphony. He loves the symphony, we govas often as we can… So soothing. He deserves it so much after all he’s been through this year. And since I’m still looking for work after 6 months, it would be a gift I can’t afford this year.

  19. Jen H November 17, 2010 at 12:53 #

My daughter is at the age now where she can appreciate this kind of show. She is in love with music, dance and theater and I know this would make her evening with momma an amazing memory. Thank you for the opportunity. It is an amazing giveaway.

  20. Kimberley W November 17, 2010 at 12:57 #

I would LOVE to take my daughter to this as part of a Mother-Daughter night out!!!

    Many thanks!!

  21. DiAnna Conda November 17, 2010 at 13:08 #

  22. Jaimee Mackinnon November 17, 2010 at 13:11 #

Would love to go because it looks awesome!

  23. Hope November 17, 2010 at 13:20 #

Wow, what an amazing show! I have always loved the Oregon Symphony but have not been to a show for quite some time. This would be a wonderful event for the holidays and a romantic date night surprise for my husband!

  24. Dalani Hanenkrat November 17, 2010 at 13:22 #

My husband and I have been trying to participate in different kinds of activities, and a live show of any kind has forever been on our list. The show looks like it would be a really great show to start off the holiday season! Maybe if we went and it was a blast, I could convince him to take us to the Nutcracker ballet that I have wished for since we first met.

  25. CB November 17, 2010 at 13:22 #

Sounds like an excellent show and there would be no other way to see it.

  26. Ben Jarrell November 17, 2010 at 13:41 #

I’d love to take my daughter. She missed Cirque de Soleil this spring because ti was too loud, but I think she would live this.

  27. Lindsay November 17, 2010 at 14:37 #

  28. Mallie November 17, 2010 at 14:46 #

  34. Hilary Andriesian November 17, 2010 at 15:38 #

My only Turkey Day plans to this point include 90 minute bootcamp at 24 Hour Fitness in the morning, and hanging out with my Buddhist Vegan friend (while fantasizing about what food I can stuff in my face after we give thanks and eat rabbit food together). Circus and Symphony would be food for the soul. Nothing more delicious than that!

  35. Brandon November 17, 2010 at 16:55 #

My wife and I go to Portland Thanksgiving weekend every year, and we always try and find something different to do, would love to win these tickets for that reason!

  36. Tracy November 17, 2010 at 18:32 #

My husband and I have always wanted to go to a Cirque show, but we have to travel to go to shows, which puts them a little out of our range. Tickets would make us able to take the trip! We would love to finally get to see a show!

  37. Ashley November 17, 2010 at 20:21 #

I’ve never been to the Oregon Symphony and being a vegan I am 100% in support of animal-free circuses. I would be very grateful to win tickets to this show.

  38. jon November 17, 2010 at 20:34 #

A circus? At the Schnitz? Would love to see a funky circus there. Have not been to the Schnitz in 2010 and am running out of chances. We will see.

  39. Andrew November 17, 2010 at 21:34 #

I would love to win so that I could take my beautiful, deserving wife to a night out on the town for a fine arts performance. Thanks.

  40. Gabriel Adams November 17, 2010 at 21:58 #

I’ve never been to anything like this before! I’d love to hear the symphony and watch a live circus. This would also be a great event to invite a girl to! :)

  41. Eric Fuentes November 18, 2010 at 02:10 #

    • Julian Chadwick November 18, 2010 at 14:53 #

It does not increase your chances to post several comments.

  47. Christy November 18, 2010 at 14:25 #

How many posts can I make? Does it increase my chances?

  48. colette November 18, 2010 at 14:51 #

I have yet to see the symphony! I’m very much into the arts but this is one side i’m new to. My son’s birthday is next week & i think he would absolutely love this! Keeping my fingers crossed :)

  50. Jo November 18, 2010 at 15:15 #

I would love to go & take my mother from out of town! This would be a special treat for both of us. Neither one of us have been to a symphony. She is from a real small town & nothing like that is offered there!
    It would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks so much PDXPIPELINE!!!

  51. Brieanna November 18, 2010 at 15:18 #

This sounds like a beautiful live performance to experience both visually and audibly. I attended a Cirque show when it was here in Portland this summer and it was truly amazing! The live music from the symphony combined with aerobatics would be a show that one wouldn’t soon forget! And what a treat for Thanksgiving to help kick off the coming Christmas season.

  52. mark fields November 18, 2010 at 15:49 #

WOW!That will Be Unbelievably Wonderful to See These Mind Blowing Acrobats coupled with the Astounding Sounding Oregon Symphony! IT will make My Sweetheart (Tammy) and My Holiday Season Fantastic!!!

  53. Stephanie Stone November 18, 2010 at 15:50 #

It has been a dream of mine to see a Cirque show. As a visual artist, I am intrigued by the shapes and movement in their performances (what I’ve seen in clips). I am not able to work due to a disability so I don’t have money to buy tickets, and would really appreciate the opportunity to see this show.
Thank you for your consideration, and happy holidays to you!

  54. Johnny November 18, 2010 at 15:53 #

Would love to see this mixture of Holiday fantasy and acrobatic wonder. Even the ever-so-full-of-Christmas character Mr. Fezziwig would tip his hat to this performance ;)

    Right on PDX!

  73. Katherina Audley November 18, 2010 at 17:04 #

I recently installed a tightrope in my studio in order to become a more balanced person. A year ago I still haven’t made an honest crossing. I want to see how the masters do it, set to the backdrop of our exquisite orchestra.

  74. Aeto November 18, 2010 at 17:13 #

I’ve got a good feeling that seeing this performance would a) help me create an amazing painting once back in my studio b) provide me some brownie points (big time!) with my wife if I brought home tickets c) aid in making my fall much more festive. It would be a trifecta that would only lead to amazing things.

  75. Teri Worthey November 18, 2010 at 17:20 #

The showing of Psycho with the Oregon Symphony was my first time I had the pleasure to attend the Symphony. I was shocked when my husband actually wanted to go. He never has been interested in anything but ROCK! We both loved it and can only dream of being able to afford to attend again. We would be honored to accept tickets and be forever great full for the opportunity to expand our music genre.

  76. Diane November 18, 2010 at 17:29 #

I would so love to see the Oregon Symphony Cirque de la Symphonie! I cannot imagine how this could be anything other than a truly amazing show.

  95. lana roach November 19, 2010 at 00:05 #

My boyfriend and I talk about going to see the Oregon Symphony quite a lot. We are BIG classical music and art fans… but have never been because he is a student and I always seem to be struggling with finances (currently unemployed.) I moved to Las Vegas for a year not too long ago and was so in love with the idea of seeing a cirque de soleil show, but again was not able to go due to finances. Free sounds great to us! We have our fingers crossed!

  96. Nessa B November 19, 2010 at 00:32 #

Well, can’t think of anything Id rather get for Christmas than art…Its way better than what I usually get: jack shit.

  97. Deanna November 19, 2010 at 00:56 #

I could really use a gonzo extravaganza of live performance to yank me out of my pre-winter blues.

  98. Eric November 19, 2010 at 01:46 #

  104. Jill November 19, 2010 at 08:19 #

My granddaughters love music, dance, and gymnastics. I want so much to take them to this show, but there’s no way I can afford tickets for all 3 of us to go. If I could win a pair of tickets, I could make them so happy!

  107. Oscar Solorio November 19, 2010 at 09:29 #

Saw Kooza in SF and it was amazing. Love the unique take with the Symphony.

  108. Mya November 19, 2010 at 09:38 #

It’s not my birthday, I don’t have a 94-year-old mother or any musically accomplished kids I’d like to take to this, so I probably don’t deserve it as much as some other people. However, I would not take the experience for granted and I would dearly, dearly love to see this show.

  109. D. Marie Conner November 19, 2010 at 09:44 #

I love Cirque and would thoroughly enjoy taking my step-son(ex’s) to the show. I am a partially disabled college student living on a VERY fixed income and moved back to Portland so I had more exposure and access to the arts and could share that with my kids.

  110. wallace November 19, 2010 at 09:45 #

I would LOVE to win tickets to this! To be honest I would want to win this not for me but for my mom, who I know would adore this show, she can’t afford to get tickets and I can’t afford to get her tickets either. So if I were to get these, I am positive it would make her Christmas season!!!! Thanks.

  112. Rebecca November 19, 2010 at 10:13 #

I would like to attend because this sounds awesome!

  113. charise November 19, 2010 at 10:36 #

Hi, I would LOVE tickets for my boyfriend and I to see this show! We want to go because we love symphonies and thought this sounded really awesome as soon as we heard about it. With school and the holidays its not in my budget right now but I would really really love to go! Thanks!

  114. Kai November 19, 2010 at 10:59 #

I would love to go to this event. I have heard great things about it.

  115. Kazzy November 19, 2010 at 11:20 #

Pick me! I work downtown and it’d be a great way to get off work early! I will invite a gal who will believe I am more sophisticated then I appear

  116. Poppy Glor November 19, 2010 at 11:23 #

Winning these tickets for Jeremy would be something special. After his ex who kidnapped his son five years ago, there isn’t much that makes him smile anymore. Maybe this would be a gift that could lift his spirits for the holidays. Thanks for the offer and consideration. Good luck everyone!:-)

  117. Steph November 19, 2010 at 11:45 #

I would love to go to this with my husband. We will finally be reunited after a year. He’s been away for the military and will be home for the Thanksgiving holiday. What an awesome treat this would be for us to experience together.

We would love to go see the Oregon symphony and Cirque perform together. What a grand combination! We have always supported the arts in the past but due to unemployment have been unable to support them now. This would truly be a treat if we were picked! Thanks for chance….

  121. Kris W. November 19, 2010 at 14:08 #

I’d love to go because I have never been to the symphony or to a cirque performance, and BOTH sound amazing! :-)

  122. Janienne Jennrich November 19, 2010 at 14:23 #

I would so love to surprise my husband of 27 years with a date to see The Oregon Symphony / Cirque de la Symphonie for the Holidays either November 27 7:30pm OR November 28 2:00pm

We have had a very hard year and it would mean so much for us to have a night out together.

    Thanks.

  136. Kat Ross November 21, 2010 at 11:16 #

My fiancee and I would love to go to this event as we both are amazed by the human body and the wonderful things it can do. Pairing body movement with a symphony sounds like a fantastic time!

  137. Autumn Sheridan November 21, 2010 at 13:39 #

I would love to see this, I once saw a traditional European circus and it looks like this would be just as cool.

  138. Lori November 21, 2010 at 15:27 #

It would be too good to be true, but I would believe.

  139. Kathy Lowe November 21, 2010 at 16:54 #

Cirque and the Symphonie – what an amazing combination of talent. I would love to take my husband to see this show!

  140. Heather Cole November 22, 2010 at 11:28 #

  143. Raina November 22, 2010 at 13:36 #

My boyfriend & I just moved to OR about 2 months ago. I used to live in Forest Grove, OR while I was attending Pacific University, but this is his first time living in OR (he’s lived in Seattle all his life). I think this would be a fun event for us to attend & it will give me a great opportunity to show him the city during the holidays!

  144. adriane November 22, 2010 at 18:23 #

I would love to go to this with my husband. Sounds fantastic!

  148. kbl November 23, 2010 at 09:13 #

  149. Theresa Martin November 23, 2010 at 12:17 #

With 3 kids under the age of 6….. I NEED a date with my hubby!!! The arts have been a connective interest of ours, I would love to reconnect with him using art which is a valued luxury and important outlet in our busy lives.

  154. Tamara Belgard November 27, 2010 at 19:54 #

I’m typically an absolute scrooge about the holidays, but I’m convinced Cirque could even make my holidays great. Cirque tickets on PDX Pipeline, well that might very well turn me into an elf… and that would be something to see!!

  155. Ian Hunnicutt November 8, 2011 at 17:55 #

I want to attend because I want to bring a friend so that they might discover how great and emotive live symphonic music is.

  156. Jennifer November 16, 2011 at 13:37 #

Cirque de la Symphonie for the Holidays sounds like an amazing evening.

  157. Justin November 16, 2011 at 15:25 #

Haven’t seen the Oregon Symphony yet, but this sounds like a great show for a first-timer! Plus, with the show being the day after my fiance’s birthday, it would make a great surprise gift!! :)

  158. Courtney November 17, 2011 at 14:58 #

On August 3, 2011 my spouse and I were in a horribly tragic accident which has severely compromised my financial situation and would make it impossible for me to purchase a ticket to this event. While riding bicycles on a country road in Washington County we were both struck by a truck traveling at a high rate of speed. My spouse was killed at the scene, and while I sustained life threatening injuries both myself and our unborn child survived the accident. I am now 24 weeks pregnant with a baby girl and would like very much to go to the symphony. They say that classical music is wonderful for unborn babies and at this stage of the pregnancy I have read that her hearing is fully developed. I would like to bring my spouse’s brother with me to this event to thank him for the tremendous amount of support that he has provided for throughout this most difficult time.

  159. Ryan Dornfeld November 18, 2011 at 17:10 #

This sounds like a lovely event :)
