  1.   Matt Says:

The Blazers will still make the playoffs. They have a solid team with lots of players that can fill the void.

  2.   Mark Shavers Says:

I think the Blazers will still make the playoff with Brandon Roy if they lose him for the rest of the season. They’re a good young team with a lot of fight and will be able to pull it together even if (let’s hope not) they lose B-Roy.

  3.   Renee Robillard Says:

Yeah, I think they have a deep enough team to make the playoffs even without Brandon Roy.

  4.   Chad Says:

Yes, the Blazers will make the playoffs without Brandon. They are way too deep not too, and should have some size coming back before long to improve their defense.

  5.   Sharissa Says:

The Blazers will make the playoffs because we are not a one man team. When someone is out others step up – that’s why we play with 5 players, not 1! Rip City!

  6.   Matt Says:

The Blazers will absolutely make the playoffs, even if Roy misses most — if not all — of the rest of the season.

For starters, they’ve been through this before and are a tougher team for having been injury-riddled last season. They’ll band together, rally around each other and do whatever they can to win.

Second, Joel and Greg are on their way back, which means a beefed-up interior presence. A stronger defense can only help this team going forward.

Third, a hobbled Roy has slowed down the offense more often than note early on this season. Not that the Blazers would be better off without Roy, but with him not around, they can develop the more motion-oriented, pass-friendly offense that they’ve implemented in recent games. This new-look offense shies away from the isolation-heavy — and easy to guard — sets that the Blazers ran with Roy. Getting the offense down will make the Blazers that much tougher to defend.

Finally, with or without Roy, the Blazers have the best home-court advantage in the NBA thanks to the Blazermaniacs at the Rose Garden. That’s gotta count for something, right?

  7.   Jacque Says:

That’s easy. Yes! Two names come to mind…

    Camby & Batum.

  8.   Rain Madrone Says:

I think the Blazers could still make the playoffs without Roy, if Matthews and Rudy can step up and play well. Winning in the playoffs might be another story, though…

  9.   Anthony Says:

The Blazers still make the playoffs; as evidenced last night, Wes Matthews is a more than adequate starter at the 2, and he’s already played the role once with the Jazz.

  10.   Hope Says:

They will still make the playoffs if they continue to work hard as a team, since a team cannot be dependent on just one player.
I would love to attend this game! I have not been yet this year.

  11.   Geoff Rich Says:

Of course, they’ve still got plenty of talent and passionate fans so they’ll be fine.

  12.   carl Says:

I think they will still make the playoffs. Matthews is looking good and the team can really do some damage when put in tough situations

  13.   Ema Says:

No silent assassin=no playoffs in my book

  14.   Troy Says:

Yes, I believe they would still be able to play well and make the playoffs without Roy.

  15.   Megan Says:

if Wesley Matthews and Andre Miller both play the way they did last night, we have a good chance!

  16.   michael israel Says:

yes. i believe the youngsters who have been growing around Roy in the last couple of years are going to to come on stronger than anyone is predicting! and i am talking especially about Batum, Johnson, Cunningham, Mills and Matthews. add to that the senior leadership of Miller, Pryzbilla and Camby and you’ve a lights out combination!!

  17.   michael israel Says:

you’ve *got* a lights out combination

  18.   Lance Says:

I am a Jazz fan (recently moved to Portland from Utah) and I am trying to adopt the Blazers as a “second team.” I definitely like what I see. I love Wesley Matthews and was mad when Portland overpaid him (as a Jazz fan), but it turned out to be a great move, especially if Brandon Roy is indeed out for awhile. Matthews will be a consistent all around player, but the Blazers will need LaMarcus Aldridge to step up and be the leader in Roy’s absence for Portland to stay competitive in the West.

  19.   Melody Says:

I think that if Roy is hurt Wes will step up big, along with Rudy playing a big part off the bench. When Oden and Prizbilla come back we will be a very good defensive team. Then like last year Roy will come back late in the playoffs and the rosegarden will go crazy.

  20.   Zervas Says:

No, they won’t. Why? Because every time there’s a Blazers game I have to deal with drunken loud people in front of my building. I’ve been pretty good this year and I believe in karma. So; No playoffs. That doesn’t mean I won’t take a couple of tickets off your hands though.

  21.   jon Says:

The seasons young and all the other teams could have just as many misfortunates. In reality, this team seems to already be lacking some needed momentum for a long season, and without it that’s exactly what this is going to be: A long season.

  22.   Ryan Says:

W/O BRoy Porltand will slide into the #8 playoff spot and lose in the 1st round.

  23.   Gabriel Adams Says:

Yes, I think they will still make the playoffs. The other players would step it up to fill the gap of missing Roy. However, they wouldn’t be as strong. Roy is not only an outstanding player; he’s a leader who can deliver under pressure.

    I hope Roy stays healthy!

  24.   Andrew Says:

If they do make the playoffs it will be as a result of Batum or Mathews becoming a scoring threat consistently. Probably won’t make it past the first round. Too bad about Oden. He’ll probably be let go and wind up somewhere else, get healthy, and dominate the league.

  25.   jaimie Says:

They will will make the playoffs because I am a Blazing optimist. :)

  26.   CN Says:

Yes, Wesley Matthews will take over as soon as he has some time to gel with the rest of the team.

  28.   J L Says:

Love the Blazer games – especially since the current team seems to be a bunch of fairly decent people. :)

  29.   Steph Says:

Yes. Roy is an excellent player but he isn’t a leader and has not been able to create a cohesive and consistent team. I almost think without the pressure of Roy having to be the stand out of the team, the Blazers will be able to play to each member’s potential for the benefit of the entire team. I think you will see the flow that is missing out there now.

  30.   philip muir Says:

I firmly believe that the Portland Trail Blazers are a team that has skill. Winning was never in the hands of one man, it has always been the way that the players come together and finish off games. The Blazers will go to the playoffs this year.

  32.   Craig Yantzer Says:

The Blazers will make it because they make it RRAAAAAAIIIIINNNNNNN!!!:)

  33.   Jo Says:

Of course they will still make the playoffs!!! They always seem to play BETTER!!! Don’t get me wrong, Brandon is awesome but he’s not the whole team. The Blazers can without him & they prove it time & time again!! We have a lot of talent on this team. I think they step it up more when they don’t depend on Brandon to do all the work!

    GO BLAZERS!!!

  34.   mark fields Says:

Yes,We’ll still make the playoffs without brandon because we have a pretty good team balanced with veteran leadership ,skills and experience and rookie and young athletic energy and skills! LET’S GO BLAZERS!!!

  35.   Charlie Says:

Yes I think we will still make the playoffs. The team has done ok without him in the past and I think the rest of our division is weak this year.

  36.   Annie Says:

Hells Yesika they’ll make it to the playoffs! Have you SEEN the Blazers in the last 2 years? This is effing old hat by now–they like to give us a wee bit-o-constant-drama to keep things interesting, and we’ve got a lot of talent sprinkled throughout the bench. We’ll rip it up regardless.

  37.   David Says:

    Lovin` me some basketball!

  38.   Mickey Says:

I love the Blazers and really want to see them live. They need a lot of support right now with all the injuries happening again.

  39.   Tom Says:

I think they would still be able to make the playoffs….the team is pretty deep. I guess we’ll see!!!!

  40.   Johnny Says:

I don’t think the Blazers will make the playoffs despite Brandon’s injuries. They’ll come close and they’ll show heart and they’ll be respected even more for trying that much harder! Brandon will thank the team’s effort next year by leading them to victory finally!

  41.   Marcus Says:

The blazers have a good playoff shot, and it’s important to Portland that they make the playoffs! Because if they don’t then people will simply go back to see them next year! :)

  42.   John Humes Says:

Time to rally behind the Blazers

  43.   Christine Says:

The Blazers will go to the playoffs but without any home court advantage. Camby, LaMarcus, Andre will be more flexible without Roy being Mr. Grabby Hands. Matthews will surprise us all with a breakout year and be a hotshot Rookie by the Feb. All – Star game.

Also, moment I most want to see? The 2 center lineup with Camby and Priz on the floor at the same time. Joel with the swats and Camby with the boards.

  44.   Minna Says:

I think we have a shot at the playoffs, but we’re going to have to pull it together to stay in the game!

  45.   rose jones Says:

    Love the game!

  46.   Jessica Says:

I think the Blazers can still make it to the playoffs even if BRoy can’t play, but I don’t think they will advance very far without him!

  47.   Matt Says:

I think the results will not be unfavorable.

  48.   Miles Says:

The Blazers will make the playoffs, but it will require a lot of hard work. Oden’s loss is tough news to swallow (again), and we are still awaiting a strong long-term prognosis for Brandon, but this team has the guts and the determination to make it happen regardless of what difficulty they encounter along the way.

  49.   Ashlan Says:

Blazers make the playoffs – using our existing team’s offensive production (see Wesley Matthews career high 30 pts for the most recent win against the Memphis Grizzlies), the return of Joel Pryzbilla at the center position within the first half our the season, as well as players that can be gained under the disabled player exception (we’re already doing one for Oden, if Roy’s out why not go for one for him as well).

  50.   Alex A. Says:

Brandon Roy has an MRI today. If results are unfavorable and he misses most of the season due to injury, will the Blazers make the playoffs and why?

No, the Blazers have been subjected to injuries galore. I believe there is little hope for a playoff contention.

  51.   jliebman Says:

Of course they make the playoffs! LaMarcus is having a breakout year and Andre has the heart to get it done in the fourth quarter.

  52.   Zack Jacobson Says:

Even if Brandon Roy has to be sidelined for the remainder of the season, I think the Blazers have a very strong chance of making the playoffs. As exhibited in the last game against the Grizzlies, Wesley Matthews has the talent and shooting abilities to fill in to some degree. Plus, the Blazers have a deep bench and a fantastic coach. They’ve also already demonstrated they can handle their own without their All-Star (last season’s injury disasters). Hopefully once Joel Pryzbilla returns, we’ll have firmed up our defense and added a talented big man to the mix.

  53.   Jim W Says:

They still make it! Andre Miller finally turns himself loose and becomes a huge scorer, Camby has an allstar year, and the Blazers make the playoffs by…trading for STEVE NASH!

  54.   Hannah Says:

“probably not making the playoffs” says my co-worker who is really in to sports. i just want to see utah here.

  55.   Martin Says:

Definitely playoff bound…Wes Mathews will pick up the slack

  56.   Karli Says:

I think they will still win because I will be cheering them on! I am the BEST cheerleader ever!

  57.   Manders Says:

Yes! ALL of our players are pulling their weight this year to make sure we’re in the playoffs. Camby, Aldridge and Batum are a great trio, and Matthews showed us all what he’s made of in the last game against the Grizzlies. RIP CITY RISE-UP!

  58.   Keegan Meyer Says:

The blazers will still barely make the playoffs because Ander Miller will finally be able to run the floor, especially without Brandon Roy’s presence.

  59.   Diane Says:

I have not been to a Blazer’s game since I move here. Would love to go!

  60.   Jacob Ostrum Says:

Let’s teach those mormons how it’s done!

  61.   Austin Says:

The Blazers will definitely make the playoffs without Roy, probably not with home court advantage and probably not past the 1st round, but they will make them nonetheless

  62.   Tessa Senior Says:

one player does not make the playoffs. It is a collective effort by the entire team and the Trail Blazers will push forward with or without Roy.

  63.   Jason Says:

The Blazers will still make the playoffs because we have a team hungry for a win! Injuries haven’t set us back in the past (Oden out for the rest of the season with another microfracture!?) and they sure as hell won’t this time!

    RISE WITH US!

  64.   t dinh Says:

    the answer is……OF COURSE!!!

  65.   Lisa Says:

    They won’t make the playoffs…
    not because of Roy though…
not because I won’t be cheering my head off…
    not because they aren’t a good team…
just because it is not their year.

  66.   JD Says:

The Blazers will make the playoffs no matter what!

  67.   Christa Says:

From what I understand about Oden & Roy, though, the injuries are either going to strengthen the team’s resolve to make it to the playoffs, or it will decimate their spirit.

Honestly, I don’t know much about our home team… I would love the pair of tickets to experience this part of Portland I don’t know very well!

  68.   beth Says:

The team has seen some big changes personnel wise. Goodbye to Juwan and Jerryd BUT hello to Wesley. The acquisition of Wesley Matthews has already had an impact on the team. I think that he will be the key in their success. They will make the playoffs even without Oden and Roy.

  69.   Selma Says:

Ok… I’m not gonna lie to you… I’m new to the blazers, new to Portland, new to the US and new to basketball. And that is exactly why I want these tickets!

  70.   Jax Says:

Wow – another year without Greg Oden … when will this end!

  71.   Debbie Says:

    Absolutely…!! We’re a TEAM, not a one man show…GO BLAZERS

  72.   Maria Says:

Sounds like fun! I’ve never been to a Blazers’s game!

  73.   Chelsea Says:

    I want these tickets!

And in response to the question at hand. Even if Roy misses most of the season there are a lot of break out stars on hand to make it happen. For example, Wesley Matthews!

  74.   shaunna Says:

I should win tix because I love watching the Blazers whoop on the Jazz!!! Go Blazers!

  75.   Thea Says:

We’ll still make it to the playoffs!

  76.   Mirela Watson Says:

Even if Brandon Roy gets injured, the team is still strong to move forward b/c it’s a solid team, with strong players AND there’s no doubt that the Blazers have the BEST fans on the planet!! Passionate, crazy & loud!!

  77.   Kristen Peterson Says:

Without Roy, I don’t think so!

  78.   Brian Larson Says:

They will still make the playoffs!

  79.   mindy Says:

Yes the blazers most definitely make the play offs with or without B-Roy. The are a great team and are a fundamental team. Besides they still have Batum, and Camby, and Aldridge (even though he needs to stop acting soft) but yeah I believe in the Blazers

  80.   Eric Says:

Hells yeah they make the playoffs… Cuz Marcus Camby is a monster and will start dominating like Godzilla over japaNBA!!!!

  81.   Salvatore A Says:

I got to be honest here. Losing Oden and Roy in what was supposed to be a pivotal season is devastating. In the competitive west they barely miss the playoffs. Yep, and I love the Blazers. I was here in 77 screaming my little head off for the World Champs and I’ve been a life long fan but without B Roy I think they lose confidence most of all and that is a killer in this game.
    Salvatore

  82.   Sean Says:

Roy would be a huge loss, but this is a team game. I believe we have a solid roster capable of making the playoffs with or without Roy, but it’ll definitely be easier with him! Go Blazers!!

  83.   Juliet Says:

THey will win without Roy because at all times in the past 2 years the Blazers have had players out due to injuries. We are a strong team and versatile. When one strong player is out, another picks up the slack!

  84.   wallace Says:

I think we can still do it, we may have to change the offense, from something centered around Roy to something not dependent on the talent of any one individual, probably means getting rid of Nate.

  85.   Kevin Beaudry Says:

The Blazers looked great last night and beat a team that beat the Lakers. Wes has shown he can score and the team is working great together. Hell yeah we’re making the playoffs!

  86.   chris Says:

Yes, they should still make the playoffs. The blazers are a deep team and getting some big men back will change how teams try to play us. Also the west is too weak for 8 teams to be better than us.

  87.   Kai Says:

I dont think the Blazers will make it without Roy

  88.   Crystal B Says:

    BATUUUUUUMMMMMMM shakalaka!

  89.   Kazzy Says:

Yes, if we utilize and mix up our offense (between Batum, Wes Matthews and Rudy) it would help against opponents that are used to focusing on Roy. Let Aldrige keep doing his thang. Last nights’ game against the Nuggets would be a good example.
    But let’s hope B-roy is okay…..

  90.   lauren Says:

Of course they will! They are an amazingly resilient team! The different injuries and losses they have endured over the past few years have only made them stronger. GO BLAZERS!!

  91.   Kristi Says:

I think that the Blazers will make it to the playoffs even if Roy is unable to play the rest of the season. They have a great team and a great bench that can step up. Rip City!!!!

  92.   Benjamin Bradea Says:

The offense is more fluid without Roy in the game and Wesley matthews has shown he can pick up some of the load left by Brandon. I think the Blazers would still make the playoffs in the 8th seed.

  93.   Amanda K. Says:

I totally think the Blazers will make the playoffs this year. They had injuries all last season and look how far they made it. Last season was awesome, and I’m looking forward to cheering them on again this season. Go Blazers!!!

  94.   Rachel Says:

My 12 year old nephew would love to see this!

  95.   Fabian Says:

Wes Matthew has shown that it is still very possible to make the playoffs even in the stacked West! Go Blazers!

  96.   Danny Varner Says:

Yes, definitely the blazers can still make the playoffs. The team is deep, and i have absolutely loved seeing Matthews start these last two games (and go on wild 3ptr frenzies)

  97.   Jeremy Says:

The Blazers will still make the playoffs but be eliminated in the first round. If you look at last year at various times a good percentage of our team was out hurt but we managed to make it. While Brandon is a key player for us I would argue that a more key player is the return of big Joel. If we can get Joel back to strengthen our interior, I have faith that the combination of Nicky Batum, Matthews and Miller will get the points we lose from Brandon.

  98.   Janienne Jennrich Says:

Sad he’s hurt, but of course we can still win! Why? We’re TRAILBLAZERS! You can’t keep a good blazing team down!

  99.   Jared Says:

The MRI showed no new damage that requires B Roy to go immediately under the knife, but I imagine his minutes may be limited from what we’ve seen in the past and I anticipate his current mini-vacation will not be his last this season. That being said, the Blazers will make it to the playoffs even if B Roy were to go down for the season.

The reason, history repeats itself. In my case, this means that every team I’ve ever rooted for is strong enough to compete year after year, but suffers an early exit when they make it to the playoffs. My favorite teams: Minnesota Twins, Minnesota Vikings, and Portland Trailblazers (you wouldn’t root for the Timberwolves either even if you were born in Fargo, ND like me).

The similarities between the Twins and the Blazers in particular make me think they would still make it. Twins lost thier closer Joe Nathan to Tommy John surgery during spring training, Oden has to undergo microfracture surgery on his knee today ending his season before playing a single game. The Twins’ power hitter Justin Morneau got a concussion in July and was day to day numerous times before never making a return in 2010. The franchise face of the Blazers B Roy is missing games at least through the Jazz matchup and I imagine there is some uncertainty beyond that. Regardless of these losses and question marks, the Twins were able to take thier division before suffering a first round elimination to the Yankees (yet again). Young players like Danny Valencia (considered in the mix for Rookie of the Year) were able to step up in the face of these setbacks and the overall work ethic of the team let them excel. The Blazers are seeing similar output early in this season as players like Armon Williams and most particularly Wesley Matthews are given a significant amount of minutes. The Rose Garden is the only venue I’ve been to that rivals how loud the Metrodome used to be able to get for the Twins, a clear testament to the type of fans that are providing the support.

  100.   Ben Says:

The Blazers will still make the play-offs without Roy because they rock!

  101.   Lisa Maurine Says:

    TOTALLY!!!
The Blazers have so much enthusiasm and the BEST fans!!! With all that heart behind them they can take it anywhere!!!!

  102.   Patty Winter Says:

    He will be back

  103.   Adrian pearmine Says:

My guy Aaron told me to check out site,
and you have a lot more going on here
than he made it seem. He made it seem
like it was a cool bars and such. Went on to
find a good new bar to hit tonight. . But would
much rather see Portland hammer Utah first
    now!

  104.   Steven Says:

Playoffs? Playoffs? You’re talkin bout playoffs? No way will this old and slow Blazer team make the playoffs without Roy boy. Sans Roy, we have become the Denver Nuggets of a few years ago. Not cute, not fun, not pretty. This team will slowly start losing close games, and then the wheels come off after new years, when we undoubtedly lose another player to injury. Finish just out of contention, in tenth place, in the Western Conference. Leaving us to look at ourselves closely next off season.

  105.   Sean Says:

They’ll make it in the playoffs regardless because they’ll gel as a team at the right time.
