Portland’s annual holiday tree lighting is Friday at 5:30PM. If you are going to brave the weather, it a good idea to go a bit early as it is rather crowded by 4PM. A description of the lighting event plus a video here.

Be Merry at the Square! On the day after Thanksgiving, Portlanders will gather at the Square to celebrate the official start of the season by lighting the spectacular 75ft Tree provided by Stimson Lumber Company. Thousands of people are expected to attend the 26th annual Tree Lighting Event hosted by KGW NewsChannel 8 and Kink.fm on one of the busiest and most festive days in Downtown Portland! With a big tree, lots of lights and a great community sing-a-long, this is an event you won’t want to miss!
