About Diamond Rings (www.myspace.com/diamondrings)
Scrappy, high-spirited songwriting combines crunchy, '70s guitar-rock with the hazy euphoria of modern acts like Sun Airway and Twin Shadow—a retro-futuristic musical braid that's hard to nail down…O'Regan's is unlike seemingly every other bedroom music maker these days. There's a real power and discernable confidence to his croon." ~Slant Magazine
Toronto's Diamond Rings is John O'Regan, an eye-catching performer whose flashy 80's style is reminiscent in songs that combine a mix of Iggy and Phil Oakley. But don't get us wrong; Diamond Rings is no blast from the past. Part laptop pop and part grunge, with percussion and scratchy guitars, O'Regan keeps it modern with chill wave that's full of fun, a mix of the downbeat and the emotionally raw. His recent debut, Special Affections, is a stylish exploration of sounds, full of catchy spacey jams held together by a deep baritone. Pitchfork has called him "completely irresistible" and NME "pretty much the best thing we've heard all year." Come check out what all the raving is about!

About Pigeons (http://www.myspace.com/pigeonspdx)
"Pigeons is a great, graceful, exciting band, worthy of all the acclaim that is undoubtedly going to be heaped on them." ~The Portland Mercury
Portland's Pigeons are a new favorite, and their recently released self-titled debut album is just a glimpse at all the musical wonder they have to offer. They have an expansive and layered sound, an emotional powerhouse of pop/rock that's full of gorgeous vocals, violin, keyboards, and driving drums. It's a surprise that these bandmates were never in a band before, their songs brimming with a soulful and reflective confidence. The Willamette Week writes, "Pigeons take the gothic wrath of Nick Cave and give it the garage-recorded momentum of early Modest Mouse." For this 5-piece, it's just the beginning.

About Fences (http://www.myspace.com/fencesvswolf)
"Some songs are most fully realized when listened to alone. In the company of your headphones and your regrets, these songs are sung not just to you, but for and about you. Fences specializes in such songs, intimate folk confessionals thick with remorse and unnerving pop songs whose upbeat strums belie internal anguish. Songs so bleakly honest you feel as if you've stumbled upon someone's journal and into the pages they'd dare not let another soul read." ~Sound On The Sound
27-year-old Seattleite Christopher Mansfield is Fences, a folk-troubadour whose punk aesthetic is a surprising but perfect veil for emotionally revealing songs that rim with melancholy. His new self-titled debut cd, produced by Sara Quin (of famed duo Tegan and Sara), is rimming with promise, full of songs that read like a diary we wish we had all written. His songwriting is simple and elegant, his voice hushed and brooding. It's a haunting sound that has fans raving, with Seattle's KEXP praising, "Although laden with sorrowful lyrics about the tragic tales of love and relationships gone bad, Mansfield's wonderful voice just can't help but elevate the mood of the music to "somewhat optimistic". And while some musicians labor over it, others just can't help but create great music; that certainly seems to be the case for Chris Mansfield."

I want to see boyfriends, mattresses, and diamonds. Sounds like a great Friday night, right? Eh? Get it?!
My heart is swollen, and I need music. The Pigeons give me happy kindlings. I would love to be there Sunday night.
I remember once my friend Olga showed me Diamond Rings videos in her little room on New Hampshire Avenue and it was during the great DC blizzard of earlier this year so video watching was in order. The radiator beside her bed was on too high and the music videos were hilarious and I was gyrating, so probably it was a sweaty affair but I cannot remember for sure now. Hopefully there are no blizzards this time around.
I’d love to see the Pigeons, Wax Fingers, What hearts, and Teeth on Sunday the 28th. My sister introduced me to the Pigeons music and would be cool to take her to see them.
Would love to see Pigeons on Saturday, plus it’s our anniversary! We love the rock.
Pigeons and Teeth,
in the same place.
Puts a big smile upon my face.
Reminds me of Darcy,
and her pigeon song.
And if I win these tickets
I’ll bring her sister along.
