Darol Anger's Cascadia Yulegrass shows at the Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland is this coming Sunday, December 5th at 4pm and 7:30pm.
This year's event is pretty special in that Darol got his start in this business almost 40 years ago when mandolin legend David Grisman asked him to play in his new band, the “David Grisman Quintet.” Now, Darol's paying back the favor by featuring David's son, Samson Grisman, on the Yulegrass run. Read more about the Yulegrass artists here: cascadiayulegrass.com/artists
Yulegrass is in it's second year. This year, we have four shows on the west coast and two in New England. We anticipate taking this on a national tour by 2012.

Last time I saw Darol Anger was at String Summit 2009 when my then 13 year-old fiddle playing son said that a man had asked him on the main stage to play a song when he had heard my son playing for spare change but my son couldn’t find me to ask my permission. Darol Anger was on stage when my son proclaimed, “Mommy, that’s the man that asked me to play with him.” Ugh….
