Tomorrow night is the opening of Peacock Lane's Christmas lights and the opening night will be car-free/pedestrian night. It will likely be a rainy time out there instead of the snowy wonderland on Twenty-oh-eight when this pic was taken, but it should still be quite nice to see and there are still more than more than two weeks that snow might fall.

MANY more pictures, 2010 schedule and Info after the break…

From website (www.peacocklane.net):
Since the 1920s, each house in this quaint southeast neighborhood has been decorating for Christmas. Mostly Tudors, the houses are adorned with not only beautiful sparkling lights, but also nativity scenes, rotating Christmas trees and stunningly life-like replicas of Santa and Frosty.
Be forewarned: this is a very popular Portland tradition and the crowds can get quite thick. It is wise to park several blocks away and walk, rather than drive through the area. Better yet, take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage.
Don't forget – December 15 is “Pedestrian-only” night, no vehicles are allowed.
Happy Holidays from all of us on Peacock Lane!
2010 Schedule
December 15 (Pedestrian Only Night) 6 pm – 11 pm
December 15 – 30: 6 pm – 11 pm
December 24: 6 pm – midnight
December 31: 6 pm – midnight
Where is Peacock Lane?
Peacock Lane is between SE Stark St. and SE Belmont St. and one block east of SE 39th. The best way to see the lights is on foot. Park somewhere in the neighborhood and enjoy a stroll down the Lane.
Please do not park in the Wal Green's lot.
If you're driving, please beware of heavy traffic, and limited access to the street by moving vehicles. Coming from the West, or downtown, enter Peacock Lane going South via Stark Street. Coming from the East, take Belmont Street to Peacock Lane and go North up the Lane.
