This country needs more fans of quality (fairly traded) chocolate, so people will stop settling for that lousy Hershey’s/Nestle crap. I’m already planning take two friends on Sunday, free tickets or no… pretty sure each of us can manage to graze $10 worth of promotional samples in one afternoon! Still, we wouldn’t mind some help with admission.

  119. Jen January 13, 2011 at 21:23 #

Chocolate festival- where shall I begin with why I want to attend? 2010 was the worst year ever for me personnally and I am starting 2011 by doing thing that make me happy. Chocolate and my black lab were the happiness I had and I would like to continue that. Life is good, great now really but chocolate makes it better! Please help me go to the festival!

  121. Kelly G January 13, 2011 at 22:01 #

Years ago I went to a chocolate festival and thought I’d sample every chocolate in the banquet hall, but only made it about a quarter of the way before I was completely satisfied and too full to sample more. It was a wonderful experience and I would love to try a repeat performance on Saturday so I can have a day to come down off the chocolate cloud before returning to work on Monday. I love chocolate and LOVE is like chocolate because they both give you the same warm fuzzy feeling.

  122. Denise January 13, 2011 at 22:06 #

My girlfriend LOVES, LOVES, LOVES chocolate and I would LOVE to surprise her with tickets to the Saturday event. We both would be so grateful.
    Thank you

  123. Dorothy January 13, 2011 at 22:19 #

  124. Dani January 13, 2011 at 22:40 #

=O OMG, that sounds awesome!! I am only here for a year and will be moving back home soon, so this is my first and (probably) only chance ever to attend this event… I would looooove to go! can’t imagine life without chocolate… I’d prefer Saturday..thanks.

  130. Anju January 14, 2011 at 02:39 #

My little sister would have a chocolate hissy fit (desi latina style) if I told her we had plans on Sunday the 23rd. Then I’d be the best hermana in Portland, wouldn’t I?? Brown girls deserve some sweets every now & then…

  131. Lisa January 14, 2011 at 07:08 #

What could be better…………….supporting a good cause and enjoying chocolate with my wonderful husband on a Saturday.

The choice is not so simple,

    Both bittersweet,

And so different from each other…

    Which to choose,

To which I see as sweeter,

One calls to my human form,

    The other to my beast…

    There both bittersweet,

Leaving me with a weird taste,

    Blood or chocolate,

What I choose shall be my fate…

    Blood and Chocolate,

    Bittersweet is the taste…

I pick chocolate, and Saturday would be great ^_^

  137. Eric January 14, 2011 at 09:37 #

I’ve heard great things about this yearly tradition for Portland Chocolate Lovers. I would love to check it out on Sunday if possible. Thanks!

  139. Laura January 14, 2011 at 09:49 #

  140. Marita January 14, 2011 at 09:55 #

  141. Ben January 14, 2011 at 10:13 #

  142. Emily January 14, 2011 at 11:04 #

    It’s quite simple, really.

    chocolate = happiness

  144. Stephanie January 14, 2011 at 11:27 #

I love the World Forestry Center! This is such a great fundraiser for them, and some seriously good times. I went 3 times last year with each group of friends, and would really love to go to the friday night 21 and over event! If you give me tickets, I promise to make it a blast for anyone there on that friday night!

  145. Jme Tarbell January 14, 2011 at 11:40 #

I would like to go to the chocolate festival on Saturday the 22nd because I am 7 months pregnant and struggling to gain weight. Getting the chance to eat as much chocolate as I possibly can should help remedy that.

  146. Ed Whittington January 14, 2011 at 11:43 #

I like chocolate, it is filled with good-for-you antioxidants! I would like to attend Saturday.

  147. Jennifer Lanier January 14, 2011 at 13:22 #

    A Chocolate Festival cheer:
Oh yes, oh yes, the ChocolateFest is best!
You never know when the snow will blow
    In the Great Pacific Northwest
    So why drown your ‘buds
    in a flood of suds
When happiness comes in a cocoa nub.
Oh yes, oh yes, the ChocolateFest is best!

And Saturday is the perfect day
    For a chocolate lovers quest
Oh yes, oh yes, the ChocolateFest is best!

  148. Elizabeth January 14, 2011 at 14:05 #

I am a workaholic so I never get to do anything fun, but above being a workaholic I am a CHOCOHOLIC! I have been sober for over 2 years and quit smoking cigarettes, so chocolate is all I have left. Please choose me to indulge in the last guilty pleasure I have, because I can’t believe I have lived in Portland for the past 3 years and have not heard about this festival! So break my Portland Chocolate Festival Cherry Please!

    • Elizabeth January 14, 2011 at 14:08 #

I would like to go on Sunday, that is my only day off.

  149. Alex January 14, 2011 at 14:07 #

My godmother is here visiting from Switzerland and is so far unimpressed with American chocolate, and, well, America in general. I would like nothing more than to prove her wrong. At least on the chocolate front. I’d kidnap her and take her Saturday.

  150. Tristann January 14, 2011 at 14:08 #

I dream in chocolate and would love to share this event with my mom (another chocoholic). Saturday would be great.

  151. Sylvia Maly January 14, 2011 at 14:47 #

Chocoloate is therapeutic. When I’m down, the only thing that seems to console me is a good piece of chocolate. On good days, it’s just added incentive to enjoy my day even more. Dreary days? A piece of chocolate! Sunny days? A piece of chocolate. On Saturday, January 22, I will either need or want a piece of chocolate!

  152. Nicki Winchester January 14, 2011 at 15:15 #

We would love to attend this event! My husband is chocolate-mad, and having had a pretty awful last year medically, it would be a fantastic pickup for him!

  153. Levi January 14, 2011 at 15:28 #

It’ll be my girlfriend and mine’s 2nd anniversary on the 21st! I wanted to surprise her with her two favorite things….chocolate and wine. What better way to do that then take her to the chocolate fest and maybe give her something shiny to top it off. ;)

  154. Tina January 14, 2011 at 17:48 #

I would be happy to win tickets to either day, although Friday might be more fun!

  155. mwilson101 January 14, 2011 at 18:28 #

I love chocolate, and well over indulge at this event. I hope to win

  156. January 14, 2011 at 19:42 #

After graduating just in time to see the Radio market take a nose dive, my husband is really interested in becoming a Chocolateer. Financial Aid is exhausted due to previous now unusable degree. Would be great to make some good contacts.

Job loss and medical bills are crushing our spirit. Would feel really good to take a step forward.

  157. January 14, 2011 at 19:43 #

    Either date is fine.

  158. JoJo January 14, 2011 at 19:56 #

The only thing better than chocolate is…
more chocolate! Saturday would be awesome!

  159. Ron T January 14, 2011 at 22:40 #

Chocolate! Did somebody say Chocolate? I too, have never attended and can’t think of a better way to say “Happy Birthday to me”.
Pick me and I’ll thank my mother by bringing her with.
New to Stumptown, she’d really find out how sweet Portland is.

    • Ron T January 14, 2011 at 22:48 #

Saturday or Sunday is fine… Where’s the chocolate?

  160. Laura January 14, 2011 at 23:16 #

My boyfriend and I are both in college and have no money for anything fun. We would both LOVE to go to Chocolate Fest because we don’t drink booze, we don’t smoke cigarettes, we don’t play the lottery, but we do gorge on chocolate…our personal weakness! Saturday would be a great time to go. Thanks for the chance.

  161. Das Liebe January 14, 2011 at 23:30 #

I need to go because I am still in my bathrobe at 3:30 in the afternoon watching it rain and rain. My highlight today will be how to get the moss off my porch. I am sure the only thing that will help is a cup of hot, creamy, chocolate. I will get off my couch for this Saturday or Sunday.

  171. Ann January 15, 2011 at 15:30 #

  177. Kathi January 15, 2011 at 20:07 #

It’s my Mom’s birthday next week, and I want to do something special for her. No one has given her a surprise for as long as I can remember (25+ years?), and I want to give her a nice treat for how great she is. She LOVES chocolate and has one piece of chocolate every day, so I would like to experience this delicious event with her. :)

I would love to take her on Saturday!

  178. Jenny January 15, 2011 at 21:32 #

Because I love eating and learning about chocolate! Just moved to Portland last year so I’ve never been to this festival and can’t wait to try out some northwest chocolate.

I have never been but learned about this all you can eat event recently. I am in Central Oregon and wrote on Facebook that I was going-who wanted to come along??? I think I will have a car full! Benefitting a non-profit makes it all the more worth while. I’d like to stroll and eat and watch people have fun. I hope to go on Saturday. If I were choosing a winner, I might go with someone out of work or taking a needy friend tho!

  186. Sandy Bounds January 16, 2011 at 16:47 #

I’m visiting family in Portland and would love to end my trip here by attending Chocolate Fest. I’ve been here over a month and have only had a chance to cross Moonstruck Chocolates off my list of local chocolates to try out. All the others on my list will be at the festival, so it will be a convenient way for me to check off the rest.

Well…I have to admit I have a vested interest. I own chocolate shop in Silverton which features the best of the best of artisan chocolates made in Oregon. I’m always on the hunt for new chocolatiers who make extraordinary chocolates and confections. This is the first time I’m free to attend the show and I can’t wait to see some of my own vendors that I already do business with such as Coastal Mist Chocolates, Ladybug Chocolates, Lilliebelle Farms, Moonstruck, etc. but to meet new folks. Can’t wait!

Chocolate is the rave in my classroom. I am teaching my elementary students about the rainforest and we will be embarking into the world of chocolate (cacao grows in the rainforest) in a few more weeks. This sounds like a great way to bring in more resources and information that would help kids learn about chocolate (I wish I could take my entire class). I would prefer going on Saturday. Good luck to all!

This event looks like so much fun! Who wouldn’t want to walk around trying all sorts of wonderful chocolates. The vendor list looks awesome. If I could win tickets, I would be so excited. I I would prefer to go on Sunday. :)

Chocolate, how wonderful. My husband has been playing with chocolate lately and it has been wonderful… he is unemployed and is actually wanting to see what it would take to maybe become a chocolatier! This could be the beginning of another chocolate fantasy! Saturday is the best day.

I would like to take my girlfriend to the Chocolate Festival.

Scratch that. I need to take my girlfriend to the Chocolate Festival.

Why the need? Well, call it self-preservation. I moved out here from DC to be with my girlfriend 3 years ago. We love each other very much and share many things in common: love of the arts, wine, and the outdoors. The one thing we do not share is a love for chocolate. Don’t get me wrong, I like chocolate. But if you told me I could never taste it again I wouldn’t shed many tears. (Now BBQ, on the other hand…)

Needless to say, my girlfriend loves chocolate. Scratch that. She adores chocolate. Her love for chocolate runs so deep she would drop me in a New York minute and shack up with chocolate, if it were possible to legally marry an item of food. We were discussing her love of chocolate one night after dinner and I made the comment that if she loves chocolate so much she should marry it. After that, everything went white and I lost track of time…

…until I woke up locked in our basement. With only scraps of bread and cups of water for nourishment and this laptop. Her instructions were short and sweet: win us tickets to Chocolate Fest or else.

So, now you know. Please give us tickets. I’d like to see the sun again.
