Paste Magazine raves of Deerhoof's new album, Vs Evil:
“Deerhoof never ceases to amaze. The band strikes a near-perfect balance between oddball accessibility and brazenly challenging their listeners to accept new and jarring sounds. The key word here is balance, between opposing forces: the past and the future, the human and the mechanical, the male and the female, the composed and the improvised, the crystalline and the obscured, the assonant and the dissonant.
So it's funny, and a bit ironic, that the band named its new album Deerhoof vs. Evil, as if its sound was merely a stand-in for the powers of “good,” when really it's a much more all-encompassing blend of Yang and Yin.
From the opening track, singer Satomi Matsuzaki's sweet, ethereal voice and the band's erratic machine-blast music repeatedly smash into each other with the cataclysmic energy of particles shot through the Large Hadron Collider. The album's synthetic flesh courses with the futuristic sounds of cutting-edge technology, while remaining fused to an organic skeleton of traditional global sounds, from flamenco to funk, Tropicalia to all-American riff rock.”

Because I have DEERHOOF for heart.
February 23, 2011 at 16:42
panda panda panda panda pan- Gimme tickets to the late 21+ show!
February 23, 2011 at 16:45
Because atomic bombs will go off if you don’t present me w/ these free Deerhoof tix!!!
February 23, 2011 at 16:46
cause I still haven’t seen them
February 23, 2011 at 16:51
Yes! Deerhoof! ‘I don’t sleep much/but life is short isn’t it?’ I’d like the 21+ show tix.
February 23, 2011 at 17:22
The 21+ show would be ideal. Instead of sitting in my basement, getting drunk and listening to a Deerhoof record (probably Friend Opportunity or Holdypaws), I could leave the house, get drunk, and listen to whatever they decide to play! Then my girlfriend won’t think I’m such a waste of life…
February 24, 2011 at 01:08
Because I’m going to take as many pictures and videos as I can and put ‘em out on the internets. I’ll take tix to the early show.
February 24, 2011 at 06:18
because the 3 and 4 year olders need to see some good live music.
February 24, 2011 at 10:41
One project I’ve worked on for years is coming to an inglorious and sad end, day by day; another is just beginning to take off in great directions. Right in between, there’s me – and I’ve love to mark this moment with a live Deerhoof show as its soundtrack. The early show would be a treat for me.
February 24, 2011 at 14:11
because I love the new album, tix for 21+ late show please
February 24, 2011 at 16:12
because the only thing better than a snowday is deerhoof
February 24, 2011 at 16:16
the last time I saw Deerhoof was an all ages show and I would love to not repeat that experience. Besides having to stand behind a freaking fence to drink my whiskey, the band had to quit just as they got rolling so the little ones could go home to bed. 21+ please!
February 24, 2011 at 16:18
i wanna hear what deerhoof sounds like live. pretty please with a gold-ladened deerhoof on top.
February 24, 2011 at 16:38
Have you heeaaaarrrddd Microcastle!? So classic. 21+ please :)
February 24, 2011 at 16:53
21+ Pretty Plaleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze! Fan F-ing tastic.
February 24, 2011 at 17:11
I’d like to get tickets to the later show. I am a broke reclusive musician that hasn’t been to a live show in months (last show was Pinback @ Doug Fir).
February 24, 2011 at 17:16
Because I am a broke college student that would like to dance off that anxiety from studying, and bring my boyfriend who love, love, loves Deerhoof, who only has 4 days off a month, and who finally has Saturday off! What a great way to celebrate a day off!
February 24, 2011 at 17:26
the deerhoof members are super nice people (deerhoof vs. evil, right?), and I like to support that. I am old enough to drink, but don’t often, and am down for the early or late show. I’m prolly not gonna study for my final on a saturday night anyway.
February 24, 2011 at 17:33
Experiencing all life has to offer generates creativity. Mama’s hunger for music to expose my preteen drummer girl to would be satiated for the weekend with a pair of Deerhoof tickets. The early show would make quite fine Saturday evening entertainment for this mother/daughter duo.
February 24, 2011 at 17:33
…yeah If my comment is not too late I would like to add on by stating how perfect tickets to the 6pm or 9pm show would be! I would love to treat out my boyfriend who has not been able to experience Portland since he moved here last May from the South. He needs to be conditioned and initiated into what Portland has to offer! So far, all Portland has offered him is long hours working and sleep deprivation. He has not experienced the “retired twenty year old 90s culture” that is so alive in Portland…or asleep until the night begins!
February 24, 2011 at 17:36
…and I have nothing better to do right now than to distract myself from my homework and write another comment saying how rad it would be to see the 6pm show! Dancing at 6pm is a great way to start out the Saturday!
February 24, 2011 at 17:52
all ages. because I really want to
February 24, 2011 at 17:55
all ages. My daughter and I love them.
February 24, 2011 at 18:18
Seething… My spell check tells me this is the closest word to replace… Deerhoof. Can I go to the big boy late night Seething show?
February 24, 2011 at 18:41
may deerhoof warm me up from this beautiful snow-late show please.
February 24, 2011 at 19:04
I missed my chance to see deerhoof in my hometown three years ago. Don’t let it happen again!!
February 24, 2011 at 19:38
Please because I asked so nice. All ages show please.
February 24, 2011 at 20:26
Would love the opportunity to hear some new music and it would be most appreciated if I were to win.
February 24, 2011 at 20:58
I L-O-V-E Deerhoof!
February 25, 2011 at 06:21
please enter me for the early show, cuz i’m old but still want to party!
February 25, 2011 at 09:01
Winning would mean that I could go see good music after a tough work week!
February 25, 2011 at 09:14
I’d love to see Deerhoof live! Their drummer is the inspiration for my invention: the spastastic random percussion generator.
February 25, 2011 at 09:15
Tickets for the late show – 21+ please
February 25, 2011 at 09:28
Deerhoof is one of the few bands that could get me to face my fear of children. Tix to the early show…because I’m hardcore.
February 25, 2011 at 13:48
Deerhoof rocks so hard!!! my sister is visiting from the east coast, plz send us to the show!!!!

February 26, 2011 at 13:15
