If there’s one thing we Portlanders love as much as rock ‘n roll, it is most definitely the pursuit of SNACKS. Snack attacks, treat clubs, getting snacky! With such foodie fondness firmly in mind, Holocene pairs our favorite local musical talents with a cornucopia of delightful treats. We bring you SNACK ATTACK 2011, a culinary music fest!
In Food Channel style, we’ll feature live cooking shows, in which charming dance-poppers Wampire, techno-noise masters Operative, and avant-shredder Ilyas Ahmed each reveal some tricks of the culinary trade using one of their favorite recipes, with samples for the audience, of course!
A slew of local bands will be baking YOU cookies and other treats for the occasion, for your FREE munching pleasure! Plus our friends at Potato Champion will be sponsoring the 2nd annual Poutine Eating Contest! Grab a partner and sign up night-of-show for your chance at frite-nom glory!
As a soundtrack to your snacking, we’ve got some of Portland’s finest united in the name of deliciousness! We’re thrilled to have a live set by gritty synth-punk great Guidance Counselor. We also have live sets by two exciting new acts, Forbidden Friends – the thoroughly danceable and thoroughly wonderful solo project by The Thermals frontman Hutch Harris – and Unkle Funkle, the marvelously weird digi-fi comedy-pop project by Chris Uehlein of White Fang.
Last but certainly not least, expect a delectable dance party and an array of food-themed jams all night from the aptly named DJ Snakks, aka Zack Osterlund of Breakfast Mountain!

ATLAS is Holocene’s longest-running dance party, inaugurated in November of 2003. ATLAS is hosted six times a year by resident DJs Anjali, E3 and The Incredible Kid. ATLAS exists to present the gritty urban music whose production and traditions are not limited by American borders.
Hosted by the crew that first introduced the Portland club audience to genres such as 2step, Balkan Beats, Bhangra, Dembow, Dubstep, Urban Desi, Funk Carioca, Kuduro, Merengue Urbano, Rai’n'B, Reggada and Reggaeton. Atlas is the Portland club night dedicated to exposing the latest electronic sounds emerging from the global diaspora. Atlas is the only night of its kind in Portland and has been going strong for over seven years!!
