This Weekend: 21st Annual Buckman Art Show & Sell | Music, Food, Drinks, Art

Portland’s Buckman Art Show returns this Friday and Saturday. This is a truly great event that highlights local art while supporting budding young artists at Buckman Arts Focus School.

Over 140 artists will be selling their wares and donating a portion of the proceeds at this year’s event. Even if you’re not in the market for a new sculpture or painting, there will be plenty to see and do with live music and a bevy of Portland’s favorite food carts.

Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School
320 SE 16th Avenue

An art and craft festival of massive proportions, the 21st annual Buckman Art Show & Sell will feature more than 140 artists, designers and craftspersons, making it the largest event in the festival's history. Participating artists, who were selected by a jury of community members, donate a percentage of their proceeds to Buckman Arts Focus Elementary School.

Highlights of this year's Buckman Art Show & Sell include a diverse musical lineup featuring well-loved singer Little Sue, the Shanghai Woolies, local jazz greats Ed Bennett and Tony Pacini, and the infectious Irish dancing of the Maldon Meehan Irish Dancers. In addition, Corin Tucker, formerly of Sleater-Kinney, will join The Buckman Chorus in a performance this year.

The Buckman Art Show & Sell features paintings, ceramics, sculptures, photography, prints, collage, mosaics, fabric and paper arts, textiles, fashion accessories, jewelry, and toys created by both established veterans and newly emerging talents in the Northwest art world. This year's event will utilize more space than ever before, expanding into studio spaces normally used for dance and physical education classes, lunchtime, and assemblies and performances. A separate gallery, in the hallways of the school, showcases the work of talented Buckman students and young alumni.

Portland's artful DIY food scene joins in the fun as well. Lining the street outside the school during the festival will be an array of tantalizing food carts: Addy's Sandwich Bar, Bro-Dogs, CoolCity KettleCorn & Co., Da-Pressed Coffee Cart, Desserts by Confectionery (inside the school), Garden State and KOi fusion.
