More than three decades after the release of its visionary debut, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo, and a full 20 years since its last studio album, Devo is back with the aptly titled Something for Everybody. The long rumored, wildly anticipated album features the band’s classic line-up-Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, Gerald and Bob Casale-joined by drummer Josh Freese (Nine Inch Nails, Guns n’ Roses).
About Devo:
Devo has had plenty to convey since Gerald Casale founded the group in Akron, Ohio, in 1973. The band was an extension of a multi-media exploration of the concept that mankind’s progress had ceased, and the process of de-evolution had begun. Devo’s early work caught the attention of such icons as Neil Young and David Bowie, and, with such hits as “Whip It” and “Girl U Want,” and the accompanying, revolutionary music videos, the group became one of the defining acts of the 1980s.
Devo’s sound, style, and philosophy have been an influence on artists from Rage Against the Machine to Lady Gaga. Kurt Cobain once said, “Of all the bands who came from the underground and actually made it in the mainstream, Devo is the most challenging and subversive of all.”

she’s just the girl
she’s just the girl
the girl you want
March 10, 2011 at 10:06
simply because, devo is the quintessential historical band of the 20th century. they are hilarious, but not very funny. they are so nerdy that they redefine cool. and most of all because their music makes me want to jump around and dance!
March 10, 2011 at 10:08
I would love these tickets, because this may be the only opportunity that my 8 year old daughter gets to see this incredible band from my youth, in person.
March 10, 2011 at 10:08
DEVO has been there at every stage of my life and I have never seen them live. I was always the kid with the weird albums and DEVO is my favorite. To see them live in Portland of all places would trigger an ‘Uncontrolable Urge’!
Thanks!
March 10, 2011 at 10:08
I want to see DEVO because my Mom would not let me go to see them in Denver when I was 16 so the dishwasher I worked with at Fat Daddy’s restaurant got to go and he brought me back a DEVO T Shirt which I lost so if you give me free tickets to see DEVO it will erase all the painful memories of my teenage years.
March 10, 2011 at 10:13
I’d like these tickets because my very busy husband is a very big Devo fan, and I’d like to continue being the girl … the girl he wants.
March 10, 2011 at 10:14
I gotta gut feeling I would have a good time.
March 10, 2011 at 10:14
Devo is the only band worthy of a tattoo.
March 10, 2011 at 10:20
Oh Yes! I would have much SATISFACTION going to this show!!! :)
March 10, 2011 at 10:21
Because I like it sloppy ;-)
March 10, 2011 at 10:22
Whip It, Whip It Good. Oh, those were the good old days of high school. Can’t wait to hear the new stuff.
March 10, 2011 at 10:23
would love to see these guys in person!
March 10, 2011 at 10:24
If I assume the position, go into doggie submission, then may I have the tickets?
March 10, 2011 at 10:25
I would *die* if I could surprise my husband with tickets to see Devo, they’re his favorite band <3
March 10, 2011 at 10:30
To de-evolve we must first evolve….I learned that in college while dancing to Devo’s The Girl You Want while wearing my skinny tie, Ray-Bans and Chuck Taylors…I must see this show to complete my de-evolution..or I will forever be trapped watching Pretty in Pink marathons wedged between Kid N Play videos
March 10, 2011 at 10:30
D-E-V-O spells L-O-V-E to me!
March 10, 2011 at 10:36
I have a flower-pot on my head and nowhere to go.
March 10, 2011 at 10:43
I would love to go and “Whip It” 80′s video attack style!
March 10, 2011 at 10:43
I would be forever grateful to win tickets to see Devo, so that I could surprise my husband who has every single one of their albums. He used to make surfing home movies with a Devo soundtrack back in the early 80′s, which is pretty much the coolest thing ever. Don’t tell anyone I told you this, but I will even hear him sing Freedom of Choice in the shower sometimes :)
March 10, 2011 at 10:50
I grew up deep into Devo, even as kids yelled “New Wave Sucks!” and threw chocolate milk cartons at me in the school cafeteria. Now, I’d love to immerse my kids in some devolution (without the milk cartons…)
March 10, 2011 at 10:57
I would love to go see Devo so I can see the originals, the beginning of a music movement and influence on so many bands I love. Oh and also to rock out.
March 10, 2011 at 11:23
Oh please oh pease! These guys are fun!
March 10, 2011 at 11:29
I hope you’ll announce the winner
on the radio
with your microphone
you do a super show
I’m a (wo)man with mission
I mean a really big mess!
March 10, 2011 at 11:30
Devo did a song for one of the weirdest and most overlooked Dan Aykroyd 80s flicks ever made: Dr Detroit.
Would love a chance to see them do it live!
March 10, 2011 at 11:33
I would love to win these tix. My wife and I have had to pass up many shows so far this year and really do not want to pass up this one. All I can say is, cheeseburger cheeseburger do it again.
March 10, 2011 at 11:43
Typically when a problem comes along, I must whip it. However, this approach hasn’t provided me with tickets to this sold out show. Sure, I could be through being cool and not go, but what fun would that be?
March 10, 2011 at 11:52
I’m dying to see DEVO!
March 10, 2011 at 12:15
Have been wanting to see them for a while had a chance in Chiacgo a few years back but didn’t and really regret it. Think this venue is great for them as well.
March 10, 2011 at 12:41
Because I have not been to a show since my daughter was born (almost 2 years) and because DEVO ROCKS!!! I need to shake my groove thang.
March 10, 2011 at 12:45
My spud is shriveled and I need to whip it good.
March 10, 2011 at 12:50
Devo was right about everything
March 10, 2011 at 13:01
I want to go so my boyfriend can finally see them and shut up about never being able to see them live. His birthday is coming up, so it would be awesome.
March 10, 2011 at 13:39
This is the one time of year I can wear my red Devo Whip It hat and not feel like an idiot.
March 10, 2011 at 13:40
I would love to win this tickets because my college roommate and I were obsessed with DEVO and, as luck would have it, she’s in town for the next week! That’s a rare coincidence, and I’d absolutely love to take her!!!
March 10, 2011 at 13:41
Yah I’d Love to See Devo! And Jam on Crystal’s floating dance floor! That’ll be the foreplay on my date!!
March 10, 2011 at 13:54
I would love to have the pair of tickets to the Devo concert. Have never been to the Crystal Ballroom yet, so I would love to surprise my boyfriend with this “night out” for us. It has been a while since we have had a “date night”! Thanks for offering these tickets….
March 10, 2011 at 13:57
DEVO!?! LIVE!?! IN PORTLAND?!?! Oh man, this would be the bomb. Would love to check them out once before they call it quits(if they ever do).
March 10, 2011 at 14:33
Devo is timeless, they were ahead then and they’re ahead now. People like me will never have any idea what it’s like to innovate, we are just lucky to be able to stand around, jaws agape, marvelling at the ease with which some people break the mold. I want to go dance and gape until my eyes are the size of saucers and I’m drooling on my T-shirt.
March 10, 2011 at 14:36
jocko homo
March 10, 2011 at 14:44
DEVO are fantastic. Their ability to create a world around their b(r)and is second to none and they BRING IT live. I need to be at this show.
March 10, 2011 at 14:49
DEVO…nuff said. DEVO. DEEEVVVVOOOOOO! Man! I want to be there.
March 10, 2011 at 15:01
Devo would melt my face and complete my life. If I get to attend then I’m very sure that I will be reincarnated as a Casio keyboard that Bob Casale will grace his brilliant fingers on. Will it be sexual? I sure hope so. Please help me move up in the ladder of life.
March 10, 2011 at 15:18
Are we not men?
March 10, 2011 at 15:18
I want to win because I am too young to have loved DEVO at their heyday! I want to know what the good old days were like wth Devo at the top!
March 10, 2011 at 15:19
Ahhh… memories of high school… would love to go!!
March 10, 2011 at 15:21
Because I want to party with my mom
March 10, 2011 at 15:22

March 10, 2011 at 15:43
Because I love to whip into shape!
March 10, 2011 at 15:45
My live music loving musical son is counting the days till he turns 18, as all age shows are few and far between in this town, especially starring classics from my rosy-cheeked days. He would love the tickets, especially now that he has a plus one for all the fun things going on in our very entertaining town. Time for kiddo to get a taste of DEVO-lution.
March 10, 2011 at 15:59
I would be forever grateful to get to see such an essential band from my childhood. Really, I would cry. And you could laugh at me crying. I wouldn’t care. I would get to see DEVO.
March 10, 2011 at 16:16
Pick -a-boo. Aha ha ha. Aha ha ha. Pick -a-boo.
March 10, 2011 at 16:22
Looks like this could be my only chance to get tickets-I’m low budget, but was going to try to squeeze some money out a my ass for this one. Pretty please Pipeline?
March 10, 2011 at 16:30
Please pick the fellow who saw them on Square Pegs, the short-lived Sarah Jessica Parker show back in the day. BTW, the fellow is me.
March 10, 2011 at 16:31
I absolutely need to have these tickets!
I am a single Dad who promised his 9yo son we would go to the show but couldn’t afford tix until today(payday….)
….and now they are SOLD OUT!!!!!!!!!!???
nooooo!
Please! I beg of you!
pick us for these tickets!
March 10, 2011 at 16:32
I LOVE DEVO & haven’t ever seen them live.
I’m out of work & simply cannot afford tix but would love to go.
They’re GREAT as the radiated workers for the nuclear power plant who jam with Neil Young in his quirky ’70s movie “Human Highway”
March 10, 2011 at 16:39
Devo changed my life. I need to be there. Please let me win these tickets.
March 10, 2011 at 16:44
Come here Boogie boy! Do you have the papers that China man gave you?
March 10, 2011 at 16:59
Are we not men?
March 10, 2011 at 17:30
So basically, Devo changed my life. Their lasting impression has resulted in me humming “whip it” to myself multiple times a day.
I have to get to this show.
March 10, 2011 at 18:13
i want to go!!! this show would make my march complete.
March 10, 2011 at 18:15

March 10, 2011 at 18:41
Mom=never getting out unless I win tickets!

I will no satisfaction if I can’t go this show!!!
March 10, 2011 at 19:16
I want to go, I could whip it.
March 10, 2011 at 19:28
I’m a mongoloid! I brought home the bacon… no one knew.
March 10, 2011 at 19:32
I’m a woman with a mission. I’m a woman with no gun (too dangerous) but I got a picture in my pocket of the lucky one (I pray that I’m the LUCKY one that gets to go!!)
March 10, 2011 at 20:00
i could finally stop hooking for a night if i got my sleazy hands on some devo tickets.
March 10, 2011 at 20:12
Because I am “Through Being Cool”!
March 10, 2011 at 20:18
James is the fresh age of 20 and needs to experience the Portland scene! What better than offer the experience of Devo, McMenamins Crystal Ballroom AND how rad PDX is in general to have a organization like pdxpipeline that hooks you up! We’d be grateful and thrilled beyond belief to go!
March 10, 2011 at 20:28
I saw them in Santa Cruz, CA in 1979. It would be so much fun to see them again!
March 10, 2011 at 20:33
Devo is my favorite band. I’ve never had the chance to see them live. My boyfriend and I have our 10th year aniversary coming up. This would make life worth living to see this show! Things have been really tough lately. We are both unemployed and neither of us are elgible for unemployment benefits. We are so close to being homeless it’s scary. We haven’t been to a concert in years. Please let us win these tickets. It would mean the world to us to have a fun night out.
March 10, 2011 at 21:13
I know this jocko homo that needs a healthy dose of reliving the good times of yesteryear
March 10, 2011 at 21:14
This show is clearly going to be epic, and it might be my last chance to experience the one & only Devo!
March 10, 2011 at 21:58
I remember the dreams of the 80′s, and so does my high school sweetheart. We’d love to go see Devo.
March 10, 2011 at 23:17
I have been a Devo fan since I was young girl. In fact my whole family loves this group and they were lucky enough to go to the show in Seattle. Alas, I was not able to make it up north and even though my family was sweet enough to get me a shirt from the Seattle show, I’m disappointed that I missed out on seeing one of the greatest musical groups of all time and winning these tickets would definitely make up for it.
Mark Mothersbaugh is a genius!
March 11, 2011 at 02:32
I WHIP IT GOOD ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT JUST FOR DEVO
March 11, 2011 at 06:42
I must fulfill my destiny….
On my grand-pappy’s death bed he whispered to me: “young spud, you must de-evolve… seek out DEVO, fulfill my last dying wish…” Then he mumbled something about how Bill Cosby needs to bring back Jell-o pudding pops and dematerialized like Obi-Wan Kenobi…..
I relive this everyday…..maybe soke DEVO-THERAPY will help????
March 11, 2011 at 07:46
WHIP me UP wit dem tickets yo!
March 11, 2011 at 08:53
A band that helped redefine a genre! A band that i can’t believe is still around! I pair of tickets that only seem right in my hand! much love to Devo for they are not men…
March 11, 2011 at 09:58
Of course I want to go…Who Wouldn’t??
March 11, 2011 at 10:17
I screwed up by not saving for my retirement. Winning (and scalping…..jk) these tickets could help relieve my pain.
March 11, 2011 at 10:19
Human Highway changed my life, and if the world is coming to an end this would be THE live performance to attend before the fallout. I would nothing more than to be able to witness this catharsis of cosmic splendor.
March 11, 2011 at 11:24
because my son needs to go!
March 11, 2011 at 11:39
Man, I f*ing Love Devo!

March 12, 2011 at 12:50
Dude. Devo are still alive?
March 12, 2011 at 16:06
“The beginning was the end of everything now. The ape regards his tail, he’s stuck on it. Repeats until he fails, half a goon and half a god, a man’s not made of steel.”
Devo, human existence, and nerddom all in a couple of sentences. Beautiful. Poetic. I will freak out….
March 12, 2011 at 16:52
DEVO reveals the absurdity we have created for ourselves as humans in our plastic, polluting, repressive and conformist world. Their lyrics are like simple revelations that I can’t erase from my mind for decades. Whether I am walking by a construction site or stopping in at a billiards hall, I often think of the DEVO declaration: “We put the poles in the holes.”
March 12, 2011 at 17:33
Went to see these guys with my sister in Austin this September at FUN FUN FUN fest . .BUT they cancelled due to a finger injury. They’re one of my favorite bands ever and Im poor. Pick me!
March 12, 2011 at 19:22
Back in the early 80″s My friends all got to see Devo but I couldn’t go because my boss wouldn’t give me the night off. I have wanted to see them ever since–Pick me, I’m fun
March 13, 2011 at 11:06
I would love to win tickets to this show! I have a good friend who’s been really down lately and loves! DEVO (like multiple-DEVO-tattoos-on-his-body loves) – he needs to see this show! :)
March 13, 2011 at 15:20
in 1979, i brought Jocko Homo to our catholic school’s PE class…the memory is vivid just how wild it was…
it changed a culture of Styx and Boston…I recently married a girl from that PE class…never saw them but have followed them since day one…would love to share the wildness again
March 13, 2011 at 21:55
I AM A MONGOLOID!!!
March 14, 2011 at 10:06
I used to sing, “she’s Justin’s girl, she’s Justin’s girl…” whenever this song used to come on the radio. Remember the radio?
March 14, 2011 at 11:14
I plan to isolate the gene for devolution, modify it, splice it into the human genome, and let the cascade of re-evolution commence! Now if I just had tickets . . .
March 14, 2011 at 11:46
Please make my rock n roll dreams come true.
March 16, 2011 at 16:08
My 3 year old is SOOO excited DEVO is here and it is breaking my heart i have to tell him he cannot go. He will be crushed and i will feel like the worst parent in the world. he is devo’s biggest little fan and would forever remember seeing devo. Please dont make me break his heart. :(
August 18, 2011 at 22:07
My eight year old son has learned many of the lyrics and some of the moves. His favorite is Mongoloid, and he wanted the new album when it came out. He loves DEVO!!! I was disappointed when I couldn’t purchase tickets today. Thanks for the chance, my son Phoenix will appreciate them.
September 9, 2011 at 08:58
DEVO was my first concert – saw them when I was 14 in Minneapolis. It was around 1981/82. I loved DEVO. There was so little new wave or punk music available to an average kid back then, especially in Minnesota! It was a memorable event! I would love to see them in concert again. I didn’t notice they were coming until the tickets were already gone.
